As a far too regular customer, this store is superb. The staff are all friendly and accommodating, and the product range is excellent. I've been shopping here for the past two years and have never experienced disappointing service.
I had gone in specifically looking for a particular Japanese whisky and a blue gin. In the past, I’ve always had pleasant experiences at Big Barrel Mt Eden, but my most recent visit was disappointing. The staff member I dealt with was dismissive and unhelpful. When I asked about a specific bottle, she replied, “whatever is there is there.” When I tried to check about a bottle I’d seen on the website, she said, “if it’s online, you only get it online.” Her attitude came across as rude, and I left feeling unwelcome. In the end, I picked up both bottles from a Super Liquor close to my house instead, spending $160 there.
Excellent Customer Service! I usually buy my whiskey online because it’s often cheaper, but this time Big Barrel had the best price for the bottle I wanted—and it was still in stock. When I arrived, the store happened to have a power outage, and I really needed to buy the whiskey that day. The team went out of their way to help, arranging for the bottle to be sent to another liquor store just a few minutes away so I could still make the purchase. Outstanding customer service! I really appreciate their effort and will definitely be buying from Big Barrel again.
Big shoutout to Big Barrel Mt Eden – hands down the best local bottle store around! The staff are always friendly, welcoming, and happy to help with recommendations. They’ve got a great range of wines, beers, and spirits at really good prices. The store’s clean, well-stocked, and super easy to navigate. Always a good experience popping in – love supporting local businesses. Keep up the great work!
super friendly staff, A HUGE selection to choose from, accessible to all as it has a carpark and a bus stop right outside! not to mention the prices are great! definitely worth a visit and becoming a member. it is always my go to spot!
This company has given some of the worst customer service I have come across. I ordered a 'click and collect' product, the confirmed order I received told me it would be ready in 2 hours. I waited 48 hours and drove 45 minutes to collect, only to be told that the product was only in stock at their Napier store, not in Mt Eden. They offered to courier the product to my home address, for a cost of $5.75 (shouldn't they be covering that on a click and collect order??). Eventually they agreed to send it directly to me at their cost. Two days later I got a call to say the product was delivered to their Mt Eden store and I had to go and collect it, they wouldn't be sending it to me after all - after another 45 min drive each way I finally had the product I ordered. What a debacle. Store manager took no responsibility and was not at all helpful. I recommend never purchasing from this company.
Fabulous, brought a gift, and rare products for cooking, seem to be hard to find - Masada wine for Tiramisu, and Kirch for Blackforrest Cake. I'm in Auckland so great you post and used eco packaging. Thanks
