    I liked when there was that cat outside the countdown. Very big countdown this is. Not to be confused with the other Woolworths Upper Hutt which is an outrageously small Woolworths. Well I say Woolworths but we all know it’s just countdown…. But they had to rebrand away from their problematicness… how did that work for you countdown I mean Woolworths. Thank you

    Had a rude encounter with one of the staff members at Upper Hutt, felt racially profiled as young Māori girl. As I was paying for my items the Transaction didn’t through (forgot to transfer money). She stood right behind me, stared at me, and then said are you going to pay for the things. As she said while I was trying to transfer money over. We then left the items behind while I contacted the bank she stopped us and said are you going to come back and get the items. After coming back in she stood behind us the whole time we were buying. Felt publicly humiliated !

    The supermarket itself is ok, expensive but ok. The self service check outs leave a lot to be desired though, if you put something through and forget it to scan it you need an assistant, if your card declines and you want to use a different one you need an assistant. Both of these things you can fix yourself at new world and pac n save. Annoying.

    I went to Countdown Upper Hutt this afternoon. Rachel (stacking magazines) went out of her way to help me look for the item that I couldn't find. She made my day, very friendly staff member. Amazing customer service. Thanks, Rachel, for being so kind and helpful.

    They'll have 5 brands of a product but the prices are high. I'll come here for the unusual thing I know Foodstuffs don't have.

    Clearly not expecting customers. veges fairly sparse and untidy. Not much in the way of beef with one line of steak not priced at all. I was lured away from my usual supermarket by an advertised special on pork roast. Clearly the memo had not got through. The four miserable pork roasts were all at full price. Poor guys on checkout with the eldest of the three probably 16 with little or no support, but tried as hard as they could and were friendly. Purchased meat at my usual supermarket. I won't be back.
