This an artificial lagoon on Wellington's waterfront and where a number of the city's rowing clubs have their boathouse. Weather permitting you can see crews out on the water. It is also where the dragon boats for Wellington's dragon boat regatta are often out on the water. There are a number of cafes and restaurants on the South side of the lagoon and the steps in front of them get crowded in good weather.

Right in the heart of Wellington Waterfront, Whairepo Lagoon has been used for so many special occasions, like Matariki celebration. I love strolling around the area when there is a festivity but even without it, is a good place to have a brisk walk, enjoy the sun and quick lunch, or just take pictures. There are many eateries and cafes around it and it’s not too far from Te Papa Museum, Wellington sign near Solace in the wind, Frank Kitts park, Moana statue, and many other attractions in the vicinity. Public toilets are available and paid parking building is available in TSB arena or Te Papa museum, or near Harbour side market

This places is in the heart of the capital city of wellington and its a good walk from the waterfront and courtaney Place. It has some amazing events organised especially in the new years eve we had a band, lights, boogie music and fireworks lit. Rovers practice in the lagoon. Friends and Family get together here and relax with good sea view and a lot of fresh air.

Love this part of Wellington. Always interesting to see the stingrays when they're around

In WELLINGTON CENTRAL, this small artificial lagoon filled with seawater is a popular destination in beautiful surroundings. Rowers practice in the lagoon, while young people and families relax in the adjacent meadows. Restaurants invite you to linger. The lagoon is connected to Wellington Harbor by a narrow channel. .

A central hub of tranquility in the city. It's a venue, a place of reflection, a gathering place for connecting with others and a natural haven.
