My wife and I had the absolute pleasure of staying here in early February 2025. We have been fortunate to visit Totara Waters a couple of times (since 2013) as part of an organised tour, but to stay here and spend some time with Peter and Jocelyn was an amazing experience. The gardens are exceptional and easy to see why this is rated as a garden of National significance, it was a pleasure to stroll around the grounds. Peter and Jocelyn were amazing hosts and you really feel like part of the family. I look forward to visiting again in the future and I would highly recommend a visit to this amazing venue and if you get the chance, you should stay for a few nights too ! ! Thank you Peter and Jocelyn for your hospitality ! !

A very well developed garden of Bromeliads and similar exotic plants. A delight to visit. Thoroughly recommend for those interested in plants of this type. Location is also very pleasant beside the estuary.

Dedicated owners have created their sub tropical paradise on Auckland's upper harbour at Whenuapai, which they share with public tours. Shopping for hybridized bromeliads is available. The wreck of the Coastal ship 'Hawera' from New Plymouth lies in the mangroves at the bottom of the property.

What a wonderful place to visit, lovely gardens and buildings and helpful advise from owners also on the waters edge. Very inspirational, we will visit again and buy from the nursery.

I had the pleasure of visiting this very wonderful laid out Subtropical garden on 21 April 2021 with a 60's plus group. I am not a gardener, nor do I know one plant or tree from another, but I thoroughly enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere this place generates as I wandered around. I can certainly recommend this hidden gem to everyone. The owners are very friendly people, and more than happy to answer any questions.
