The new playground looks great, but there is no baby swing. My son loves swings, but is too young for the regular swing and doesn't like the basket swing nearly as much. There were several other people there who were also disappointed not to see a baby swing there. We ended up going to Tui Park to use the swing there. It's a real shame, as my son love climbing the stairs up to the fort and using the slide.

Lovely sports fields and very enjoyable trail run along the coast! Trail is well formed and primarily gravel. Nice new board walks across estuaries and a good view of the coastline.

Shepherds Park is on the Northshore region of Auckland in Beach Haven and is named after the Shepherd family who farmed there for several generations. This large park consists of a native bush, bike riding tracks and sports facilities such as tennis courts. It provides multiple recreation facilities including tramping, walking, fitness equipment, learn to ride bike trail, sports fields and facilities for football, futsal, squash and tennis. The park is home to the Birkenhead United AFC, Beach Haven Bowling Club, Beach Haven Tennis Club and Shepherds Park Squash Club. There are occasional campaigns in the bush where locals come together for native re-generation, planting and cleaning programmes on a voluntary basis. There are also structured environmental programmes for kids and adults which take place frequently at the park. A large playground, toilets, a barbecue, picnic tables and seats, and a great network of paths are inside the park. Follow Shepherds Park Path for a short run under 30 mins or bike ride around the park. There's a short 'learn to ride' path that loops around the playground. It's ideal for kids developing their confidence on bikes or scooters.
