Most frustrating experience! I lived in Vietnam for 4yrs and need a criminal background check completed to work in nz. I called and emailed this embassey for over 1 year with no luck. Eventually booking a flight down from Auckland to Wellington to sort it. The man there was beyond rude, aggressive and most annoyingly incompetent. It started by arriving at 9:05 and no one being in the office which is meant to open at 9. The first guy rocked up at 9:20, the lady around 9:30 and the final guy not until about 10. After informing him of my difficulties getting touched he told me that calling at 9:30 (when they open at 9) is not an appropriate time to call. I explained I have called over 30 times in the past year showing him the call log of my recent calls and he got aggressive and angry towards me. He then proceed to assist the other lady waiting who arrived after me, essentially ignoring me. He then sent me to the 4th floor to photocopy my entire passport. I returned when I couldn't find a photocopier. He then explained i need to go out on the 4th floor and walk around to find somewhere to photocopy it, refusing to copy it in the embassey. I did all this. No complaints. On return he charged me $60 to certify my documents but then refused to tell me where to take them, told me to ask my 'friends'. He told me he didn't know where to send them. He then ignored me. I called NZ immigration to ask for guidance, he refused to talk to them. Overall, all I can say is they are the most incompetent Embassey I have ever dealt with (I have lived and dealt with the USA, Korea and Italy with no issues). This man is honestly the poorest example of Vietnamese culture. I don't know any of them have jobs.

If I could give it -5 stars I would. I came with a friend who has been TRYING to contact the embassy for over a year to sort out paperwork from when she lived in Vietnam. The phone always go to the answering machine which was full so she couldnβt leave a message. She emailed many times asking what paperwork she needed to do. Never heard back. So we flew to the embassy from another city to get this paperwork done in person. Had to wait 30 mins before someone even showed up to work. Only to be told by the consulate employee that it was my friends fault they never answered the phone because she called at 9:30β¦which is βtoo early to be on the phoneβ. They open at 9. My friend also called at all other hours they open during her own work hours. Over 30 calls over the year that she was trying to sort out her paperwork. They made her call the number she was calling to see if their phone worked. It worked. The consulate employee told her she didnβt know how to use a phoneβ¦now he is angry at her for coming without the paperwork pre doneβ¦which she couldnβt do because no one answered the phone or emails. Now, the paperwork is done and he said they didnβt know where she had to send it in Vietnam, my friend should post it to a βfriendβ in Vietnam (?), when we pushed to ask where can we find information or who can help us he said it was not part of his job and refused let us speak to a supervisor. Then we asked again for an address to send the criminal clearance in Vietnam when he changed his story to REFUSE to tell her where to send it. He refused to talk to us and pretended to be on the phone and simply ignored us. The only hope we have now is to call the NZ Embassy in Ho Chi Minh as the Ministry of Justice and Department of Immigration in New Zealand said the Vietnamese Embassy in Wellington were the correct authorities to help with this. They were horrified that the Vietnamese embassy refused to help us. Great work Vietnam Embassy Wellington - youβre completely incompetent, I have no idea how you have jobs

Been trying for over two weeks to get evisa support. Keep getting message from Embassy saying mail box is full, can't speak to anyone. I have used link in email sent to me and have explained I missed out my middle name. I used this link three times now and no response.

Great experience and friendly service. Paid a visit to the office and renewed an expiring passport. Was diligently guided by the officier to complete the form and got a return card with a tentative returning date. Received the new passport on time with no hassle. If you pay attention on the required documents and prepare in advance, this would save time on both ends. As simple as that.

Although they don't issue visas here we had help and considerable time given to us to apply on line. Thanks to staff member for this, great service

I had to cancel my trip too because there is no way to apply for a visa from NZ if you are not a NZ citizen, and there is no way to contact this embassy

Simply no way to get in touch with the Vietnam embassy in New Zealand. I've been to 32 countries, and dealing with their embassies was never a problem. But, the Vietnam embassy in New Zealand takes the cake for being the worst! They don't bother replying to emails or picking up calls. It's super frustrating because there's no way to reach them!

Not once have they picked up a phone call. It either doesn't connect or no one picks up. I have MANY emails unanswered. Only once when I wrote URGENT in 2 emails I got a call but since then I have not been able to reach them. Very frustrating. At least have an auto response email detailing when to expect a reply so I know there is some type of system in place.

In my experience, the ambassy was very helpful with providing information and documents required via mails. I contacted to request some forms to be sent via phone, and then email I got them not long after, they were very responsive. Thanks so much for your promt response and help.
