   Had a great experience with instructor Maddie at Piha Beach. It was an especially challenging day given that the surf was rougher than usual and not exactly beginner-friendly, so kudos to Maddie for a great and safe lesson when Mother Nature was making it a bit more difficult than usual. She presented me with a choice to get a credit for the class and come back another day when the water was more cooperative, or to wait a bit longer and try to surf further down the beach. I chose the latter option and ended up having a successful and complete lesson (stood up on the board a few times!). Highly recommend! Only suggestion is to book directly through them and not through Viator- I’m not quite sure why, but the lesson ended up never being confirmed, but Chelsea ensured that I was refunded and put in a later class.

   I didnt end up getting to surf with piha surf academy because of a health issue but Chelsea was super helpful and kind in helping me coordinate things and then to get a refund since I wasnt able to go. I hope to be able to go another time. Thanks for everything!

   Had a great three days surfing south Piha with Maddie. Really clear instructions and feedback. I felt like I was progressing quickly between sessions. By the last day I was surfing out the back.    I bought a 3 back of private lessons but loved it so much I fit one more lesson into my trip! Alex, my instructor was very helpful. We started each lesson going over safety which helped with my confidence in the water. I would definitely do again!

   Excellent experience. I’ve never surfed before in my life and the instructors were absolutely fabulous and also very patient. The team are lovely and the lessons are suitable for all ages. By the end of the lesson, I was able to stand on my board and surf the (small) waves. My Parnter and I got our vouchers from GrabOne - Such a good value for money! I would highly recommend the Piha Surf Academy for anyone who hasn’t tried surfing and also it is a must do activity if you are on holidays visiting in the area. There’s a lovely little restaurant just a few steps away to grab food straight after too. Thanks again, we’ll definitely be back!! Leanne & Will.

   I have been surfing for 5 years and I was searching for private training to take my surfing to the next level. I found Piha Surf Academy and its great packages. I booked the 5 lessons package and I did my last lesson last week. The instructor was constantly giving me feedback in the water which help me correct old bad habits I was dragging throughout the years. I highly recommend Piha Surf Academy for beginners and intermediate surfers.
