This is absolutely a scam money making Medical Centre, do not go to this one. You will not receive treatment, and they will require you to return for follow-up visits, each time charging the full fee. I had stomach issues for which I visited Dr Johanna Heinau and she gave me a few tests and never contacted me back. She gave me gastric medicine, and my problem has nothing to do with acidity. I followed up with the practice, and they said the doctor never got back because there was nothing wrong with the tests. I went back to the nurse and explained that my stomach issues were still the same. She told me I would need a second consultation for more tests. I asked if it would be the full fee, and she said yes. They only conduct a minimal test to ensure you keep coming back for additional tests, each time charging the full fee. When I asked why the doctor could not give me all the tests required at once, and she said a doctor can only do so much in FIFTEEN MINUTES, you pay $80 and this is what they say to you. That’s not patient care, it’s business. You should absolutely avoid this practice and Dr Johanna.

This place has really gone downhill in recent years. The focus seems to be on making as much money as possible, rather than actually helping people. Shameful service from the last two nurses I had to deal with here. Additionally it turns out my doctor has left the practice without anyone telling me. Expensive appointments compared to other medical centres in the region. I'll be signing up elsewhere. Strongly suggest you do the same!

I have had only a positive experience with city medical centre. The reception staff are lovely, Doctors really helpful and the clinic itself is clean and modern. Very handy location as well!

My partner had a phone consultation at the beginning of the week for his flu like symptoms. The nurse prescribed him some medication over the phone and we were told to call back in a few days if it got worse. 4 days later my partner has had no improvement, in fact symptoms had gotten worse (he was unable to eat and had very minimal fluids over the 4 days) and it seemed less like flu symptoms and more like something else. We rang Health line who completed a thorough assessment of his condition, they advised us to phone his doctors and ask for an emergency face to face appointment or head down to ED within 2 hours. We rang City Medical straight after and explained to the nurse how his symptoms had gotten a lot worse. We asked for an appointment and also an extension of his medical certificate. The nurse who answered the phone told us that there were no appointments available but then advised us not to go to ED/ after hours. She said he needed to continue taking the medications prescribed to him over the phone - we explained that it had been 4 days and he had no signs of improvement with these meds. (we later found out once getting to after hours that he shouldn't have been prescribed these medications for the symptoms he had and that they were in fact making him feel worse). My partner explained that he has been unable to eat for 4 days, the nurse kept interrupting him saying "you need to eat, this isn't good if you're not eating"... obviously, this was one of the reasons we were wanting help/advice as he has been unable to keep food down without wanting to vomit. The nurse kept dismissing him and told him to just eat and drink. The thing that shocked us the most was that his conditions had worsened, he hadn't slept barely due to extreme headaches and fatigue - and the nurse advised us not to go to the after hours/ ED. How is this looking after your patients best interest? We also asked for an extension of his medical certificate as he was due to return to work within the next 2 days (on Saturday). She said we would need to call back on the day of return to work (saturday) to obtain an extension. My partner said he needed to give his boss some notice and she kept saying to call back on the day of return to work. My partner explained again (for the third time) that he was meant to return to work on Saturday - to which she replied "we aren't open on Saturdays".... again, very obvious hence the reason we were asking for it 2 days prior. We ended up giving up on the phone call with no actual productive advice and also no extension of his medical certificate..also the ludicrous advice to not go to ED. We ignored this and went anyway. Nurses saw to my partner pretty much straight away as he was barely able to stand up/remain awake. They did an influenza test and it came back negative. He was referred for further blood tests and advised that his symptoms were not normal or that of a flu. They were shocked the practice would advise their patients to not seek further help or go to ED if symptoms worsened. We were also told by the Doctor at ED that the medication prescribed to my partner was actually contributing to making his condition worse/ causing extreme fatigue. It's disappointing that we felt completely dismissed when ringing City Medical to explain that something wasn't right/ his conditions had worsened. We felt that the nurse was choosing not to listen or understand the information we were relaying to her. She made us feel dumb and belittled with her comments of "why are you not eating, you just need to eat and rest" which she kept repeating, despite us explaining that he has been unable to keep food down. Also advising patients who's conditions have not improved/ worsened to NOT go to ED is extremely dangerous and irresponsible. The nurse kept minimising it by saying "health line tell everyone that", as though we hadn't been told this for a reason. Will absolutely be looking to move him to another practice after this unreal experience.

Came as a walk-in patient but they don’t accept walk-ins. However, the front desk is kind and friendly. They advised in alternative medical practices that do accept walk-ins such as Wellington Accident & Urgent Medical Centre
