City Timber is an awesome shop for high-quality hardwoods and tricky to find timbers right here in Wellington. Martin is really great to deal with and the place as a really warm and welcoming vibe under new management. They're especially handy for smaller quantities and bit and bobs for all your woodworking projects!
City Timber have been a great resource for us as we've been renovating and extending our 1936 bungalow. They recently fabricated for us a centerpiece bar for the kitchen extension. We love it and it's become the center of gravity for socializing and our own daily flow. Martin and the team were extremely responsive and helpful with tips on cutting and staining for me (as I was taking the install upon myself). Top notch work, and i have no doubt I'll be back again at some point for my hardwood requirements!
Awesome range of timber, had some stuff I haven't seen anywhere else in Wellington. Martin was really friendly and helpful - I'm a beginner and haven't worked with nice hardwoods before, but he was more than happy to chat to me about finish recommendations and gave me some good advice about tools as well. Much appreciated Martin!
I required some pieces to repair some outdoor furniture. Craig gave great advice via email and let me know the timing for the work. The communication was perfect. Friendly and efficient service. Very highly recommended!
The old man in the office was rude and spent more of his time gawking at the woman purchasing timber than wanting to engage. He refused to cut the wood to the size I wanted as there were "too many other people waiting". He was moody and petulant - I recommend that you go somewhere else to get service - not good service, just service.
Had exact replicas of the trims I needed on hand.
Had the floorboards that I needed, that I couldn't source from anywhere else in Wgtn, a very handy shop for wood items that the main hardware's don't stock. Good service too.
Went there with a long list of expensive fittings and boards for a Victorian house. However I tried 3 times to engage with the staff but they just looked at me and kept on chatting with eachother. So after 15 minutes, I simply gave up and manage to find the same bits online. Got free freight from another shop upp North as i spent over $10K. Never going Bach here again.
Great friendly and helpful service. I'm a beginner DIYer and I got great help and advice especially as I didn't know exactly what I was looking for. I'll definitely be back again.
