Today I finally found my life's purpose. To be a client of Bryce at Jam. I find haircuts stressful. Sitting in front of a mirror for hours with the added pressure of making small talk is my idea of hell. Every hair dresser I have encountered from when I was taken by my mum, to the trainee hair dressers as a student, to the first expensive cut when I first got a "real" job have been lovely, friendly, and considerate. But I still found it stressful. What do I want done? Please for the love of god, for the wellbeing of us both, I should be in the backseat for the decision making. Or the boot if possible. My first expensive dye job my stylist sat me in front of a book and I picked every colour that was exactly the same as my actual hair colour for 300 dollars. I am the Nicola Willis of fiscal responsibility when it comes to decisions about my appearance. Bryce took me by the hair, and gave me direction. I didn't even have a chance to look in the mirror with self loathing because he was so funny and engaging. He snipped away with skill and confidence. One of my first thoughts when I got home was that I would probably trust his judgement on whether or not to turn off life support should I ever be in a coma or something.
Marianna honestly saved me!!! I came in after a really awful haircut, no appointment, and she still managed to squeeze me in. She completely fixed it and gave me the best cut I’ve ever had. My hair has never looked this good and I’m so, so happy with it. Couldn’t recommend her more!
Got my hair cut and dyed yesterday by the lovely Marianna, she did an amazing job! I have curly hair and for the first time ever, I’ve got a hair cut that I love! And the colour is perfect. She was super easy to talk too and just a lovely person all round! The other girls there were super helpful and lovely too! I will be back!
Jam is a gorgeous salon with an absolutely lovely team! They really care about their customers and about making sure you have the best experience, both at the salon and after. I will definitely be returning! I've now been there twice. The first time, Bryce cut my hair. He was so kind and SO fun! An absolute joy to interact with and a very talented stylist. My second visit, I saw Ben. He was so thoughtful and, again, just a joy to interact with. He did such a brilliant job with my cut and it's so obvious he has a wealth of experience even before he starts cutting your hair! I also had the pleasure of interacting with Anja to schedule my second appointment. She was so sweet and helpful. Interacting with her just solidified that Jam's entire team is wonderful! Last but not least, I was really impressed by how happy all the clients seemed both during and after their appointments. Based on the two times I went, I think anyone could find a stylist that's a good fit at this salon. (Check out the bios on their website - they do a great job of showing background and personality!)
Jam is described as best hairdresser in wellington and I can see why. I put my trust in Alex for colour and cut and she nailed it. Lovely atmosphere there - very professional and good listening skills. Will now ONLY go to Jam. Thank you,
Love my cut from Alex!! You were lovely. Won’t be returning after watching a stylist/owner mock me behind my back but in clear view from the mirror in front of me. At least make sure the customer can’t see bro.
Staff are AWESOME!!! We get our hair cut and coloured by Victoria regularly throughout the years and the hubby sometimes has Ben cut his hair. My hair is long and is now multi coloured but previously just blue. I havent had any bleach burn and the colours are always blended perfectly. My husbands cut is always clean and on point. The products they use smell wonderful. We love going here :)
Came in for a mullet refresh and left with an unevenly layered bob. Brought in reference photos of my previous haircut and was given a completely different style that was cut unevenly. Stylist was late to my 45min haircut that was $90 and ended up charging me $120 for 1 hour cut despite the fact I was fully paid and out it the shop before the hour was up. So was charged $30 to wait on the stylist, collect my belongings and pay. I did email the shop with my issues to resolve this privately, however the stylist did not acknowledge the issues I had with the cut and insisted it took her a full hour to cut my hair despite also acknowledging that she was late and I was in the building for less than an hour. I received no remedy to the situation other than to go back to the same stylist to fix my hair. Considering the lack of acknowledgment of wrong doing and the fact that my hair is too short to be fixed, I decided to decline. I attached screenshots providing timestamps and proof of unevenly cut hair and the fact I was overcharged however these went overlooked. After a long back and forth Louise said she would refund the $30 which really should've been the entire amount, but she never did I have to cut my losses but hopefully the next person doesn't have to. I ended up getting my hair fixed at another salon and we laughed at the appalling job done here at Jam Horrible haircut and even worse customer service. Wish I could give 0 star rating.
