We went in for an estimate for ghost roots on curly hair. I think it was going to be $447, not 100% sure, but it was over $400. They didn’t carry color but they had a good choice of color depositing conditioner.
Would not recommend for gender-non conforming or alternative styles. Asked for a split fringe and got a random patch of colour in the center. Wasn’t happy with it at the time and was told I needed to get used to it. Gave it a day. Next day called 3 times to try organise to come in and fix. Was told by the stylist that they had given me what I asked for and that they only had time for a consult today, that I would have to then come back next week and pay to have it coloured again. Spoke to a friend afterwards (AFAB, gender non conforming) and they shared a negative experience with their last haircut. With the stylist laughing at the picture of they had shown them (of an AMAB model). They have a rainbow flag in the window. I don’t think this signals it to be a good spot for queer or alternative folks.
I have always had a great experience when stepping into The Hair Chair whether it's to purchase hair products or haircuts/colour. Staff are very friendly. I wanted a change to my hair colour to something different but not too 'out there', I ended up choosing a dark black cherry colour which Muki had very skillfully placed into my hair which blended beautifully with my naturally dark hair. I am now addicted to this new found colour in my hair! :)
After a hair mishap (that left me with a sizeable chunk of hair lopped out of my otherwise sleek bob), a very talented stylist here came to the rescue. With not a lot to work with, I walked out of the salon with not just an incredible repair job- but a FANTASTIC cut in its own right. Thanks so much. Next time I’m in town, I’ll be back for sure. X
I went in for a haircut that would be suitable to my face shape and was easy maintenance. The stylist took such care from the hair wash, to the cut, ensuring that I was consulted a long the way! It was such a gentle and lovely experience and I would go back! I felt heard and really looked after x
I was able to walk in and have my hair washed and styled. It exceeded my expectations and I loved it. Had compliments all night. Great friendly staff and clean fresh looking Salon. If I lived in Wellington this would have to be my go to! A real gem in Cuba street.
Had an amazing experience here today! Lovely shop, friendly staff and did a fantastic job cutting and styling my hair. Was a little on the high side of my normal price range but will definitely be coming back every so often when I can afford it :)
So happy with the team at Hair Chair! Kan was super lovely (even though I botched my hair with cutting it myself..) Not too in your face about upselling, service from the rest of the girls were amazing also! I’ll definitely be back:)) Thanks girly’s!
This place is awesome - had a cut & blow out with Em, who is so good!! They were super onto it, listened to what I was after and gave me solid advice, and I’m so happy with the results. First time going here and if I wasn’t moving overseas soon would def go back again.
