   Ten years ago, I came to the Hearing Institute for the first time, almost completely unable to hear. I had lost 99.9% of the hearing in my left ear and 55% in my right. Today, I hear very well, and my pronunciation has improved significantly. Many people don’t realize that when someone has hearing loss, their way of speaking can sound different, which can sometimes make it harder for others to understand them. Thanks to Nigel and Julian at the Hearing Institute, I now live a completely normal life and communicate with others without any problem. I am truly grateful! Today, I returned after ten years to replace my hearing aids with new ones. The new ones are much more modern — they’re rechargeable, so I no longer have to worry about changing batteries. Thank you for your dedication, Nigel. I wholeheartedly recommend this excellent professional.

   My brother has a severe to profound hearing loss and requires patience, care and understanding. Nigel has been caring for his hearing for a few years now and is brilliant with him, although he must travel from Opotiki my brother will not let anyone else look after his hearing.    I’ve been seeing Nigel and his colleagues at the Hearing Institute for just under a year now. They are very professional and provide you with a warm and welcoming atmosphere which is vital to help ease off the nervous tensions. I’ve been to other ENT specialists in the past and in my experience they were so money orientated and didn’t provide me with the care or support I needed, ultimately I didn’t feel any better off. That is certainly not the case with Nigel, he made me feel like a valued client and provided support and care beyond the clinic.

   I visited Nigel at the hearing institute just after lockdown — Nigel is a true professional with a lovely, friendly manner. I was very worried and confused about having to purchase new hearing aids but Nigel was fantastic with his kindness and knowledge, both of my unique ‘cookie cutter’ hearing loss and hearing aids. I never felt rushed and believe Nigel is truly interested in helping you make an informed decision — he is not interested in a quick sale. He gave me a demo pair for two weeks free of charge so I could try my new hearings aids before purchasing. He provides follow up sessions which are wonderful to learn about your new hearing aids and teaches you different techniques on how to use them. I have no hesitation in recommending Nigel and have since passed on his details to a few friends — and I will continue to do so! Nicky Covic

   The Gilgit road specialist center is a private clinic center with doctors specialised in their respective field. It is recommended to have a insurance if you plan to visit place as the fees can be bit expensive. But the care and treatment given is worth each penny.
