We take the kids here for Saturday basketball - the coaches are great and the kids have got a lot from these sessions. recommend!

Went there for a trial. I like that they are open till 9pm. That is really helpful. The staff were friendly. The girl at the front desk on the first night who took us around the gym, showing us etc forgot who we were on the second night & asked 'have you tagged in?' I had no idea what she was talking about as I never got a tag as was doing a trial. I was so confused! She didn't remember us from the previous night although she spent time personally showing us through the gym. The lady upstairs & the men were friendly. The facilities are varied enough & it is spacious enough. There didn't seem to be much parking as it always seemed full but it is a large facility which makes sense, & luckily we always found a space. My service dog was no worries & next to me in my workouts. They didn't ask any invasive questions just accepted him & welcomed him with care. Thanks for the trial. I will get back to you!

My wife and I have been part of this gym community for over 4 years. She’s here five times a week, making the most of the free classes included in her membership. The staff are always friendly and genuinely go out of their way to help. Unlike the flashy franchise gyms with deep pockets and glossy marketing, The Y is a true community gym. It relies on the people it servesβ€”and has been around far longer than these modern, overpriced chains that seem more interested in draining your wallet than improving your wellbeing. The Y is an iconic name built on trust, connection, and accessibility. If you want a gym with zero politics, fair value, and the chance to meet real people and make friends, this is the place for you.

I took my toddler to the gymnastics classes, they are pretty much free play which is nice. Coaches are really nice and all but I would have liked it to be a little bit more structured (like showing the children how to safely do so, etc). Also the manager β€œdivesh” is not helpful at all.

Yeah pretty dope stadium and the basketball courts(which i play) is positive but the phone service is the negative because i'm trying to ring the desk and the staff would not answer and i've went there and there's like kids events going on and its kinda getting annoying for me. Thanks

Nice gym. Lots of machines so you don't need to wait for too long during rush hours. Parking available outside but not plenty. Classes available for kids after school and holidays.

Great gym. Neat, tidy, very clean and great friendly staff. Also they have squash courts, a indoor basketball/football court and lots off other inclusive activities like spin etc.

As a visitor to NZ/Northcote, this is a great option for a drop in gym. Friendly staff, well equipped, clean gym and changing rooms. I purchased a "11 visit" concession card which included fitness classes. The classes are frequent and fun, something for everyone. Easy access, good parking.
