We once were fervent fans of Go Bang Espresso when it was a staple of Jackson Street and have long lamented the lack of quality food since it closed, until now! I don't know why it took us so long to come here but the food is reminiscent of the offering we used to enjoy at Go Bang! The hash stack is probably the best in Petone, with crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside potato cake, perfectly poached eggs and your choice of toppings. The cabinet offering is also delicious and appropriate for those with dietary restrictions. I had the vegan brownie and it was once of the best brownies I've had! The staff are always welcoming,friendly and attentive. This is definitely a gem in Petone.

It is, as far as I’m concerned, the last of Petone’s truly great cafes from that vibrant period. It’s the only place left where you can sit and genuinely feel it belongs to Petone. The allure of Small Batch lies not only in its atmosphere but also in its offerings. Their coffee is second to none, crafted with a variety of brewing methods including espresso, filter, cold brew, and drip. The beans are roasted nearby at the old Unilever factory, ensuring a local touch that enhances the flavor and experience. The cabinet food is equally remarkable, complemented by daily fresh baking and a thoughtfully curated seasonal menu. With the city council’s recent introduction of parking meters on Jackson Street, its location becomes even more appealing. Here, you can enjoy the rich legacy of Petone’s café scene without the hassle of parking fees, making it a perfect destination for locals and visitors alike.
What an amazing cafe! Great staff, great food, great atmosphere, great vegetarian options. Just happened to pop in while getting tyres replaced nearby but will definitely be coming back
Delicious toasted cheese scones, big pots of tea and a cozy atmosphere. Ripe is my fav local cafe. Always a lovely vibe with friendly staff.
It was so lovely to have somewhere to go to after an early morning ANZAC day service. Delicious food, great coffee and wonderful staff. Fantastic area for little ones to play and colour in and meet other little ones! Thank you!
