   Just a great little place to go and watch the world go by, if you're at a loose end and want to get close to water-side and have a spare few moments. Access is very, very easy - about two, maybe three (at the most) minutes off the eastern end of Portsmouth Drive. So, this would be a MAX of 10 minutes away from Dunedin's Octagon. Been inside the yacht club when I was a kid, and learnt to sail from there. But... that was in the 1980s, so no point saying now what was the facts then. From all accounts the club itself is laid-back, and offers a brilliant opening for the sport of yachting, if that is your thing. Point to note: occasionally freedom-campers will haul-up and stay in the club's car-park. From what I gather this is a no-no within most of the boundaries of Dunedin City, so for anyone thinking of doing this, perhaps choose another place.
