I had a great experience with New Zealand Home Loans. The staff are incredibly helpful and easy to connect with. Their personal service makes me feel truly taken care of. Highly recommend!
My partner and I were with NZLH Rotorua for 2 years (he had an extra 2 years before I brought into the property). I wouldn't recommend going with NZHL to anyone. Besides Sally and Robin who were helpful, patient and considerate - the other staff we had dealings with her horrendous, rude and completely unhelpful. The attitude we consistently received from the staff was enough to make us change to Westpac. We eventually got sick of trying to deal with particular staff and had to "suck up" higher costs, inconvenient account structures and for my partner, excessive insurances. The staff we had dealings with would speak down to us, be abrupt and rude and generally really horrible to deal with - considering they manage our livlihoods and our money we would expect at the bare minimum an OUNCE of good customer service, but NO. I wouldn't recommend them. As much as I don't like large banks and would prefer to support locally-owned, I have been more than happy to make the shift to Westpac if it meant never having to deal with the two staff I've dealt with at NZHL.
The team are professional and take the time and care to ensure we leave there understanding what is happening and the whole process. We definitely felt comfortable asking any and all questions without feeling like we're dumb. We have a 6 month then yearly catch ups to go over our plan and make sure it's still working for us or make any adjustments needed to make our money work for us and our mortgage. I can't forget our favourite thing that we didn't get from our previous bank, debtnav, we can put all our income, expenses and financial goals into debtnav and it spits out a graph of our progress, whether we're ahead of our plan so keep doing what we're doing or if we're behind and need to see if there's something we need to change if it wasn't just a one off unexpected expense. We can even play with the figures in a draft to get an idea if something could work out for the better or worse financially before going ahead and changing it in our actual plan. We also feel like we can still live and not be a slave to our mortgage NZHL have definitely made us feel more in control and can manage our finances to the best of its ability. They can also make a pretty alright coffee for our appointments
Very helpful service, they do annual reviews of your mortgage and savings to help you stay on track, these review are valuable, free and part of NZHL's service and have. They assist with insurance policies, help to understand all of that. Thanks Shelly and Leah. Highly recommend NZHL Rotorua.
NZHL has been amazing to work with. They took the time to understand our goals and created a tailored plan to help us pay off our mortgage faster. The service is personal, professional, and supportive, way beyond what we expected from a home loan provider. I have been with New Zealand Home Loans for about 7 years now I have found NZHL to be the best lending institution that I've worked with. They're always curtious, friendly and professional. Their focus has always been on how you can best to pay down your home loan and there for save you money. The loan structure that they adhere to is available at other banking institutions but they usually choose not to tell you until you're about to change banks ( as I found out). The revolving credit structure has made achieving saving money through paying down my home loan very easy and very manageable. I have recommended NZHL to my family and friends since I first signed with NZHL. I have only great things to say about NZHL.
