Our daughter purchased a car 10 months ago from Carbase, which ended up needing some major repairs. We dealt with Brian who could not be more accommodating and a pleasure to deal with through this difficult process. Thanks to him, the situation had a fantastic outcome - our daughter’s very happy with the results. We would definitely recommend Brian at Carbase if in the market for a vehicle.

Purchased a Toyota Corolla from them around a year ago and within a week of owning it the car was depleted of all oil, I was told by the mechanic that it was because I needed to put in thicker oil for older cars but the oil I used was specified to be for the car by supercheap auto, they reluctantly done an oil change at this point it was still going through oil like it was going out of fashion… not long after this I started having some pretty serious engine problems with this vehicle, to the point it wasn’t driveable at which point they picked it up with a tow truck and verified it needed a new engine, they had the car for a week and when I picked up the car they didn’t say anything about what was wrong with the old motor and also didn’t receive any paperwork for the new motor, another couple months later it stared making a funny noise again this time it was outside of their warranty and was told it wasn’t their problem, alongside this the window wouldn’t go all the way down and if it did the door wouldn’t open, throughout this whole process and countless issues with the car everyone at carbase (especially Bryan) came across very sexist and exploited the fact that I’m a female, I would seriously consider steering clear of this company especially if you’re a female and if possible get a thorough vehicle check by a different mechanic

Purchased the car from here, was assisted by a great salesman who was quite experienced and knew his trade. I had some problem with my car and took it to them who assisted me right away, checked my car and gave me some advice to follow to get it fixed. Great kiwi business.

It was a couple of years ago. Brought a car from them that instantly had issues. Kept taking it back and they couldn’t find anything wrong although I provided evidence (videos of it jolting) as they requested. Eventually I advised them I was not happy with the car and wanted a refund - this turned them completely sour and unreasonable. They told me I was being dramatic. As a young woman, I felt they did not treat me the same as they did when there was a man in my presence so I felt I always had to have the support of my dad or my manager there, which is disappointing in this day and age. Often they would talk to my dad on the phone while I was there and be respectful, and then as soon as the phone call ended they would change their behaviour towards me. They eventually said ok, bring the car back we will take it. So I drove down there only for them to tell me the boss had changed their mind and that I needed to leave the premises. When I tried to argue they can’t agree to one thing then just change Jeremy and the other sales guy (Brian?) just turned and walked away from me. After assessments from independent mechanics who confirmed there was a problem, and many months of arguing, they eventually took the car back. This was the worst sales interaction of my entire life. I would advise everyone, but particularly young women, to steer clear.

Big waste of time and money. Car turned out to be a lemon and I see it is back up for sale for an extra 1k!! Edit: Thought I would add more context in case someone is thinking of buying a car from here.. I was an out of town buyer so I had arranged for someone to drive the car to my town at my cost. I had also put insurance on the car and a fill tank of petrol. This car had problems from the first test drive and they said it's probably the battery connector and it will get fixed. After a couple days the car problems got more obvious and was not safe to drive!! Took the car back to Carbase and they said was electrical and replaced the battery. The day before the car was to be delivered to my town the car started jolting again. Took it into carbase and was given a full refund (minus the insurance and full tank of petrol) that had to wait 4 days for. They also said the cambelt had been changed but it didn't look new. So if you're thinking about buying a car from here I recommend getting it checked out and buying the warranty.

If I was looking for a Toyota Corolla or similar I wouldn't buy there but as luck would have it a vehicle that I had long wanted turned up on the Carbase lot. The business expects a premium price but disappointing care/servicing while under their stewardship does not support this mindset. Sales great to deal with , just the company mindset poor

I appreciate how Neil and the others worked with me to provide the best services possible for me while also demonstrating their expertise. However, after I purchased my most recent vehicle from them, there was a guy who didn't know what he was talking about, particularly with regard to my mechanical breakdown insurance policy. He claimed I couldn't reduce it at all, even though the policy stated that I could do both if I called them within 15 days of the purchase date and made no claims. I told him I wanted to minimise it, and he called the insurance company. When I told him I wanted to reduce it, he called the insurance company and told me the opposite of what the insurance representatives had told them, which was that I could do that within 24 hours of the policy. I explained to him that this was incorrect, and he said he would call me back later. When I returned, he told me I could do that, and when I went to reduce it from 3 to 1, I discovered that the price was different from what he had told me on the first day of purchasing the car. So then I continued with the 3 years as he make it very difficult for me and not willing to help me from the beginning, so I walk off.

Impeccable after sales service! We purchased our vehicle well over a year ago through the team and have had a recent issue with a rather large leak. The service team ripped up the entire car, dried it out, found the source of the leak, fixed it and kept us in the loop the entire time. We have come to expect excellent service from Carbase but the way this was dealt was exemplary and we are suitably impressed! Thanks again team, you really went above and beyond.
