I wanted to see the town of Port Chalmers so got hike/walking advice from the great staff at the cruise terminal VI. They suggested an almost a 7 mile trek that included Iona church, Robert Scott memorial, Carey’s Bay, back past cruise terminal, around the Chalmbers reserve, past the Harbour Hawks rugby club, down the Main Street and up the gang-plank!

Port Charmers Cruise Terminal Review on 21/2/2024 It is within walking distance from where passengers of shialight. The terminal is very spacious, clean and bright. Near the Information desk is a big yellow sign painted on the wall that reads "taiki" meaning welcome in Mauri. There are big signs showing where the public toilets are. There is no security check, as the cruise ships that docked here are for a short shore visit to Dunedin. On arrival, there is no other visitors except those travel on Princess. Thanks to the power free WIFI, like many other travellers, I try to catch up with checking emails and WhatsApp messages. At the far end, there are some display units housing various model steam ships. It is hpjust a few minutes walk to Port Charmers township.

Despite it being area, the Cruise terminal was relatively clean and tidy. Had a small information area there, as well as an area available for where one can use the free Wi Fi. Friendly people were around

Nice place, on a Princess cruise to Sydney from Auckland visiting friends and family along the route, which is pretty easy, with shuttles and meeting up downtown, end of the world here in Port Chalmers...very lovely old style,1800s to early 1900s well restored neighborhoods to walk through while enjoying the Hilly peninsula. Foot paths everywhere...
