We had a great and realling interesting walk around Dunedin with Athol and quite a damp day. It was a great thing to do and Athol is both really knowledgable and patient. Thoroughly recommend this if you have some time in Dunedin.

An absolute Must, when you are in Dunedin. I did the Vogel street walk with Athol - and would have done every single other walk on his menu if I had stayed long enough. His deep knowledge, spreading such a vast array of topics (history, economy, arts, architecture, culture and subculture), as well as his heartfelt connection with the people who shape this town are a pure joy and treasure. I have rarely done such a great city walk. Plus, he is simply a wonderful personality. So make sure you don’t miss out on his tours, when you are in Dunedin.

Don't miss Athol Parks of Dunedin City Walks! Suggest you do these early in your stay to maximise your visit. These exceptional walks (we did the Vogel Street walk and the Old Town Walk) are an unforgettable introduction to this historically intact beautiful small city. Athol's insights covered some expected buildings / history however most of what he revealed were inside intriguing alley ways and buildings definately undiscoverable by visitors. He effortlessly wove in stories and facts across a range of interesting topics and in response to our questions and interests. If you love architecture you will experience the wealth of this city from the 1850's to mid century modern which was such a treat for us! Athol also gave us some great recommendations of other things to pursue which made our trip. BEYOND ALL EXPECTATIONS.

In my experience, these walking tours can be a bit hit and miss... Athol's love and passion for his city are a fundamental part of his approach, and come shining through on the journey. He is kind, friendly and knowledgeable it's a "must do" when visiting Dunedin.

Had a most enjoyable and informative walk with our guide Wendy Dalley. Recommended, especially as a far more authentic and educational experience than expensive and gimmicky shore excursions for cruise passengers!

We had the most marvelous walk around Dunedin with Athol - it was fascinating and we really enjoyed it. He is a delightful person with a great delivery. He is both knowledgeable and passionate about his subject. The tour actually provided an excellent grounding for our visit to the Settler's Museum. We were able to put the exhibits in context more effectively courtesy of his tour. It was a great walk and I can't recommend City Walks highly enough. Athol also provided useful tips on what else to see and do in Dunedin which we really appreciated as we only there for a very short period.
