Quick, clean, efficient. The inspector spoke to me and explained his report. Tyre wear uneven front to back but even across the "axles". Front-wheel drive car and I monitor wear and rotation so all good.

I went to VTNZ Hastings for a warrant today. I was in a rush and was dreading the wait but today was good. The staff on the counter and in the testing bay were friendly and helpful. I was in and out in less than 20 minutes. Very happy thank you.

Yesterday I fell over near their office in Orchard Road, in Hastings. I was re registering my car anyway. I went into the office grazed knee etc. The staff members there were so accommodating etc fixed my knee, very kind and understanding.

Wasn't sure it was worth posting a review until I overheard a conversation with a complete stranger in a shop discussing how upset her daughter was with her experience with driving assessor Ary van V, whom was also my assessor for my restricted licence and has failed me twice. The first time I went, was with another lady who was honestly so lovely and so kind. Even though i failed she gave me awesome pointers and gave me the confidence to resit the test. I had prepared myself accordingly and got lessons and went and rebooked for the following week. This time I was given the South African man. Immediately his demeanour was the total opposite and the energy he gave off put my nerves into overdrive. To my surprise I got further in this test and had completed all phases with no muck ups. It wasn't until the drive back to VTNZ where ANOTHER DRIVER WHO WAS INDICTATING WAS NOT IN FACT TURNING which almost caused me and him to collide. I was immediately failed despite the rest of my drive being a perfect pass. I was obviously upset and he got out of the car without much of an explanation and left me in tears. I rebooked again and two weeks later went back. I was greeted with Ary again. I wasn't too comfortable seeing him again and immediately that horrible feeling in my gut came back. We had only just gotten in my car before he complained my air con was too warm. It really set the tone for the drive and he picked on every single thing I did. The test lasted for about 10 minutes when he failed me again because I went over 30km/h (he said it was 34km/h) and being in a school zone. I was "speeding" at 3:28pm, 2 minutes before the zoning conditions ended but was given no oppurtunity to correct myself, or right my wrong somewhere else. It was take me back to VTNZ and that was it. BOTH times I have failed with Ary, someone else in the car park has stopped me and said "failed?" Just because they saw who was my assessor. One lady was failed by him 3 times and needed to go to Waipuk to do it which she passed. Unfortunately, this man is well known going off these reviews and has been for years yet you seem to not do anything about it. I won't be spending another cent at your business and your assessor's need to learn some compassion and understanding. Some proper training is clearly needed here. It's honestly stupid I had to travel out of town to get my restricted because I don't feel comfortable ever coming back to the Hastings branch. Only trying to better myself and get ahead but I think you have power trippers employed here.

Went here to get my licence updated to reflect my new last name. Brought in my marriage certificate and filled out forms with my new last name. The licence just arrived with my OLD last name. The lady serving was distracted and unfriendly and I now have to redo the entire process again, very disappointed with my experience here.

Wouldn't bother getting a WOF here ever again, was told I had to replace my windscreen because of a small chip in the Critical Vision Area, ordered a new windscreen which took two weeks to arrive only to be told when I took the car in I shouldn't have failed a WOF with a chip that small, inspector insisted that there can be no chips in the Critical Vision Area however this is not what the legislation says. Failed for an exhaust system leak which my Mechanic could not find. Failed for moisture in fog lights and blown tail light, don't have any issue with the last two item. If you fail a WoF here, look up the rules for yourself.

Slowest VTNZ in the country, I swear. Almost 30 mins into waiting, 1 agent at the counter. Completely ridiculous with a line almost out the door. Agent was lovely, but clearly overworked and stressed out. Do better VTNZ.

My dad was meant to be my support person today when I sat my restricted test. My testing officer was Ary Van V. He told me I wasnβt allowed a support person. On the website it clearly states you are allowed one support person that is over the age of 20 and is not under the influence of drugs or alcohol and meet the requirements. My dad meet all requirements and it was still a no. I suffer from anxiety but that wasnβt good enough. I failed my test today which was important as it was for a secure job. No test until mid May available so I had to rebook in dannevirke, 50 minutes from Hastings. When we asked after the test why my dad wasnβt allowed to be my support person the lady at the front desk asked, was it a man or a lady?? That shouldnβt matter but obviously it does with him. On the website it does not indicate ANYWHERE that that decision about your support person is up to the testing officer. So disappointing. They wonder why Hastings has so much unlicensed drivers. Most donβt go back. I donβt even want to give yous a ONE star but thereβs not ZERO stars available.

I have had terrible experiences with the staff in the office, both in person and on the phone. They are rude, and not accomodating at all. They even hung up the phone after I was requiring them to explain their reasoning. After cyclone there have been reduced hours (understandably) but I travelled to Hastings from Bay View, I made it with 15mins before their licensing closed, and they declined me due to a further change of hours (not stated anywhere). Baring in mind, I had gone in on a Saturday and they said licensing was only open weekdays, so I came back during the weekβ¦. Website clearly stated new reduced hours and then they changed it again without sharing info. They said they were short staffed, yet there was two staff behind counter and only 2 customersβ¦.Their replies were always βit is what it isβ, in a very rude tone. Incredibly rude people, will never go back to VTNZ again.
