   I’ve had a journey of several years of suffering from gynaecological issues, only to be told by other doctors that it was “nothing serious” or “back pain”. I was even told by another Dunedin gynaecologist that it would “all go away once I hit menopause”. Turns out I had adenomyosis, endometriosis, and pelvic congestion, so “hitting menopause” was not going to solve all my problems. By this point my quality of life was very low, I was struggling to work, and feeling pretty deflated. With Elliot McKenzie I was finally listened to, with empathy and understanding. He performed my hysterectomy, and had many in depth discussions with me throughout the whole process, on the op itself, what to expect, what he found during, and how he dealt with it. This man has given me my life back, and I am extremely grateful. I would highly recommend him for any woman who is struggling to be heard, because he WILL listen, and give very thorough analysis and treatment.

   I saw Elliot through the public system. He failed to read my notes from the surgeon prior to him and performed a hysterectomy. Had he read my notes (as he should have) then the structure would have remained and could have prevented further issues with a mesh sling. Every health professional I have seen since has remarked how negligent he was.
