Having just moved to Dunedin I needed to find a new hairdresser to perm and tame my natural waves, luckily I came across The Look Hair Design and owner/hairdresser Sharon. Sharon is lovely, seeing the history of her salon with a gorgeous setting for a woman who had been a consistent client for decades turning 100 years old with Sharon eventually taking her trade into this beautiful ladies rest home over her final years. Seeing and hearing this story was humbling and immediately reassuring that I had found my new hairdresser here in Dunedin. Sharon’s skill and trade knowledge goes without saying, it is obvious in her every action, auto piloting her way through my chemical treatment while informing me of what she was doing and engaging with conversation. Sharon’s salon is clean, tidy and well organised, tools are well sanitised and services provided are transparent. Honest pricing is something I did not expect to find and that my chemical treatment included a haircut built into the price is not something I found elsewhere in Dunedin while calling around 20+ salons. Sharon genuinely cares for her clients experience and her impact in the community. Locals likely already know all of this but I felt it important to include in my review for others integrating into the community. Thanks for the wonderful experience Sharon (& apprentice) you’re a gem and made one of my birthday gifts this year the best I had received.

I have a broken right wrist and she has washed my hair, plaited it to keep it easy to manage and given me so much sympathy for my invalid state; she’s made my day and made me feel human again.
