   I had the most amazing experience at Aurum Hairdressers — I honestly feel like a new person! From the moment I arrived, the service was outstanding. I was offered snacks during my appointment, and they even happily order drinks from a local coffee shop if you’d like one — such a thoughtful touch that makes the whole experience feel truly relaxing. One detail I absolutely loved is that Aurum offers a silent appointment option when you book. If you’ve had a long or difficult day, you can truly switch off — no pressure to make small talk. You can relax, read quietly, close your eyes, and just enjoy the experience. It’s such a respectful and calming option that really shows how client-focused they are. My stylist genuinely listened to what I wanted and, with a few expert tweaks and professional suggestions, delivered a result that was absolutely perfect. The team is attentive, warm, and clearly passionate about what they do. The products used are high quality, and my hair now looks and feels incredible — healthy, vibrant, and full of life. Consider me one very happy colour client! I won’t be swayed or tempted by any other hairdresser in Dunedin — I’ve found the one. I’ll definitely be back and am officially a new regular.    I got my hair done by Koda as a little treat to finish off my semester abroad, and I couldn’t be happier! I had blonde highlights and a small trim done, and it turned out exactly the way I wanted! Koda is super friendly, talented, and really makes you feel comfortable. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to come back since I’m heading home after my exchange, but I would 100% recommend her to anyone in Dunedin!

   This is my first bad review which is a shame! I came to this salon for hair extensions and unfortunately after having them installed they were loose and slipping down by the next day. I contacted the hair dresser who installed them to let her know but she didn’t seem concerned and said she couldn’t see me until the following week- as I had an event on that weekend it wasn’t an ideal response. That night one weft fell out completely and in the end I was able to just slide them all out of my hair with no effort at all. It was pretty distressing and a massive waste of money (1000$). I wrote to the salon sharing my experience and not only did they decline even a partial refund for their poor workmanship and the wasted hair (and yes I know hair is non refundable as it’s a hygiene product, however this this not a change of mind- it’s a faulty installation) but they also didn’t even bother replying to my last email. Likewise the hair dresser didn’t reply to my last message the day I notified her about the loose wefts. I’ve had extensions before and normally they are tight and impossible to remove without pilers so I know these were not installed correctly. The salon should’ve shown more concern the day I reached out to them and I believe a refund should’ve been offered. I can’t recommend this salon based off this experience. I have informed vixen and luxe of the improper installation and will avoid association with this brand in future.
