   I would have liked to have stayed here but our plans changed and I needed to cancel. I did so a few days before the deadline and they acknowledged that the reservation was cancelled. But they didn't initially refund my money and they didn't reply to any of my emails asking about it. I had to get my bank involved to get it reversed. I got my money back but was left with a bad taste in the terms of the hassle.

We had the best time… *wonderful position , right in the heart of Napier *well appointed room , library and art deco decor * very helpful staff, especially , Angie , who’s passion for the hotel and her guests was palpable!    My recent stay truly exceeded my expectations. As a runner and account manager, I’m always looking for spaces that blend comfort, character, and convenience this hotel delivered all three. I stayed in the Vice Regal Suite, located on the top floor. The room is beautifully designed with 1930s-inspired décor, high ceilings, and elegant traditional furniture that give it a timeless feel. It also features all the modern comforts such as an unbelievably comfy bed, a spa bath perfect for recovery, and a fireplace that added such a cosy warmth to the space. The separate lounge and dining area made it easy to relax and unwind after a long day. The fresh flowers in my suite were a beautiful touch. It was also a great space to work from because it was quiet, bright, and inspiring. The hotel’s location couldn’t be better either: amazing restaurants and cafés are just a short walk away, and the coastal path made for a stunning morning run. I even caught the most beautiful sunset over the water to finish the day. The team went above and beyond with a thoughtful welcome hamper, which was such a lovely touch and made the stay feel personal without being over the top. I will definitely be back.

   We had a really enjoyable 3 night stay at the County. Service was absolutely first class, nothing was too much trouble! We had dinner on the first night which was excellent..a great deal of thought in the menu and food and presentation was great. Given the above and the location we will definately be back when we are in the Bay next. Thanks team!

   A wonderful place to stay within walking distance to shops, cafes and sea front. The room was clean and comfortable and we were met by a welcoming manager. Despite all the recent devastation around the Hawkes Bay, it wasn't difficult to drive to Napier. The city and the area have so much to offer. I recommend going to the Saturday morning farmers' market as there is great fresh produce, baked goods and coffee. Definitely returning and staying at the County Hotel again.

   Awful hospitality. Due to the cyclone, I have been more than accommodating to come to a forthcoming and reasonable resolution for a booking that could not be fulfilled by the hotel. Instead, the management took the full payment for the booking and blocked my ability to contact! I really wanted to stay in this gorgeous hotel and support a local business rather than a chain, but clearly hospitality is not something management are fond of. DO NOT STAY HERE. If you must, ensure you book under a policy with flexibility because even when there’s a force majeure and the hotel will be covered by insurance for the loss of income, they will take every cent.

   I had a booking early March, which was unable to go ahead due to the hotel closing to the public after the cyclone. I have made multiple attempts to contact the hotel for them to process a refund, via phone and email, however have had no response and no refund after several weeks. I would really appreciate this matter being attended to, and a response to my com's.

   Luxurious living in the ‘30s. Beauty-full hotel that makes you feel like a movie star in the ‘30s. Which is the perfect feeling, being in Napier, the Art Deco Capital! Good room, impeccable service. Don’t miss a decadent night at the Churchill’s Bar and Wine Street Restaurant. I liked everything. Strongly recommended

   We loved our stay - a hotel with charm and character. The location is perfect for wandering and exploring and the rooms were quiet and comfy. The personal touches were awesome and the hotel was a special part of our holiday. My son and I loved playing chess in the library! Can't wait to visit again.
