My mum and I went to check out this shop yesterday, I spotted this shop another time but it was closed being after hours (Love when you come across new op shops) We walked in and really wanted to browse, BUT we couldn't get past the smell......My nostrils where offended Instantly......Please fix the smell it was NEXT LEVEL, Shame because the shop itself looked well laid out and sunny.

Disappointing to see clothing prices similar to brand new especially for Kmart and Warehouse branded clothing. Overall a lot of the clothing is quite expensive. Volunteer staff can be nice but some make you feel pressure to make a purchase.

Hi Nurse Maude, I would like to share the experience I had while shopping at the hospice shop at Sumner. I held a pale of activewear and browsed around at the front of the shop while the staff first asked me if I was going to buy them. I did not say anything as that made me feel weird-being pushed while I was still browsing. Then the staff asked if she could help to put the pile of items to the fitting room. She mentioned that there are Maxi of 4 , I was surprised and little shocked feeling uncomfortable feeling being pushed with non stop questions feeling that I was not wanted and not allowed to take my time. After all browsing and picking, I asked the staff, retail coordinator , Sue . What time do you close today? trying subtly to give her a hint please do not rush me while there were still around 3 hours and I was literally the only customer in the shop. She answered "you will not be here until 4 p.m." Rather bossy and territorial in my opinion comparing all these time that I was usually having friendly or just left alone not being regarded at Nurse Maude Merivale Shop. I felt not welcomed and unwillingly interfered with the staff's unknown rushing, and therefore I wish to recommend that the staff might need some help to be checked. I wish not to go into the discussion of if I was being discriminated against due to my Asian face but can not help comparing this visit to all these frequent visits at another Nurse Maude hospice shop in Merivale. I feel sorry to say that Sue's attitude has changed dramatically after helping out to settle the 90 dollars spending and turned into a different person when I asked for more assistance after the first round of shopping. It is rather disappointing and sad that this unforeseen event took place at a holly organization with one of the permanent hard working staff who might have very little or none experiences dealing with a non European faces like mine. Very sorry to share all my subjective opinions along with the facts that happened today. Will not visit Nurse Maude hospice shop again in Sumner.

I came into this store a week and a half ago, I was carrying my little dog. I was confronted by a women working in there and she was ok with my dog being there but kept asking me if my dog was a pure bred Chihuahua. Of course he is, but the lady would not let it go, her questions become more ridiculous and she got louder and loader while bombarding me with silly questions. She was insinuating he is not a pure bred and would not leave me alone, finally I just walked out, upset and dismayed by that womens refusal to listen, not that she would let me get a word in edgeways. I will never go back there, she was rude, loud and insulting. All I wanted was to buy a few books to add to my library.
