So sad to see such a large part of the CENTRAL CITY taken up by this monstrosity which will be sitting empty well over 300 days a year. Short sighted city planning for so many reasons.
Incredible feat of engineering especially considering how they addressed the foundations. Will be an asset to the city. Bring on the big games and international headline concerts!
Now where stuck with "A Big Muffin." Forsyth Bar Dunedin stadium design still looks way better at even half the cost. But hey, at least you won't get wet now.
No parking - Maximum congestion / inconvenience for everyone. Welcome to the vanity project that costs rate payers regardless of the revenues generated. The " She'll be'right " Stadium is a testament to the short term / limp wristed attempts at massaging a cost benefit analysis to push it across the line, so a few career focused individuals can add another self-embellishment to their LinkedIn profile.
This is going to be an amazing space for events in Christchurch. The Canterbury region is growing quickly and to have world class sport, music and other events here is exciting. Opens in 2026

Finally Canterbury is getting a stadium they can be proud of, love the location and design looks great just hope it can open relatively quickly
Finally being able to have a venue like this in Christchurch is extremely exciting! Love the design, I'll definitely be paying a visit to it when it's open! The only real problem is how close the new housing is to the stadium, so more does need to be done, before the stadium, and that area starts receiving many more complaints about noise, like we had happen with Dux Central recently. Overall, this venue deserves 5 stars, and I absolutely cannot wait to come to the amazing stadium when it's open! I promise I'll follow this project till the very end, can't wait to see some significant progress!
