   I embarked on my paragliding jour et with Cloudbase paragliding and Grey last December. I was glad and lucky to found in Grey and its team the most patient instructors always keen to share their knowledge about weather and/or site assessment and turning into great storytellers about their epic paragliding adventures.    My paragliding journey started with a wonderful tandem flight with Grey Hamilton, the head honcho at Cloudbase Paragliding in Christchurch, and I fell in love with paragliding straight away. I decided to go to another company in Queenstown (just for the scenery) to start my paragliding training, but really didn't enjoy the teaching methods there so I came back to Christchurch to finish my training and become a qualified paraglider pilot. And I'm so glad I did! For starters, the scenery in Christchurch is also beautiful, but while you're learning you're concentrating so much you don't really think about that. What is much more important is what, and how you learn. Grey and his assistant instructors are very experienced, and they teach with care, patience, and with safety at the forefront. Also, (unlike in QT) they really love what they're doing, and I was never made to feel like I was wasting the instructor's time when it took me a while to learn something new. Grey also teaches all the necessary theory, from the physics of flying, to airspace law, to meteorology, and helps you through all the exams you need to pass to qualify. Having recently been awarded my licence, I feel super confident to explore NZ with my new gear (which Grey very kindly sourced for me at a discount price) ready to put my new skills into practice. And now I can enjoy all that beautiful scenery with no stress! Thanks to everyone at Cloudbase! :)

   Even if you live outside of Christchurch it’s well worth the commute for pg training. Learning with cloudbase has been an absolutely ideal experience from the instructors to the flight locations! Grey is a fantastic teacher, patient with a contagious enthusiasm for free flight. Can’t recommend highly enough!

   I can't recommend Grey (at Cloudbase Paragliding NZ) highly enough! Not only is he a friendly, approachable, skilled pilot with years of knowledge that he shares clearly and openly; he is exceptionally kind. He really will go above and beyond to help you out and make sure you have all the support you need for your debut into the world of free flight. I'd like to thank him very much for all his help guiding me through my intro day, PG1, PG2, paragliding theory, gear selections and many other things besides. It's been a pleasure to fly with you (and continue to do so!), and I'd like to think I have made a friend as well as an instructor. He also has the assistance of many other excellent pilots helping you approach your first landings, begin ground handling and explore any questions you might have. (I'd especially like to thank Ryan for his kind and patient manner while guiding me through the earliest stages, and his help with cobra launch). I'm sure many other licensed pilots out on the hill echo my sentiments, and I hope to be back with you to pick up some more advanced skills... once I've practised and perfected my current set of course :) See you out there!

   Completed PG1 and PG2 with Grey in a group of 4 friends. Grey was an excellent instructor, always calm and extremely professional. Grey clearly has a true passion for paragliding and teaching. Instructors Ryan and Brian were also excellent, knowledge extremely friendly and safety conscious. Watching other operators also teaching the same course it was chalk and cheese, we were so pleased to be with Grey

   Can not recommend enough!! I did my Pg1 and Pg2 with the team here. It was fantastic every step of the way, from starting off, to tips about gear and much more.    If you want to learn to fly in Christchurch, this is the place to do it! Fantastic training from Grey and the whole team, learning to fly here has been a real pleasure. Well equipped with gear and vehicles - you'll never have to walk up the hill! The instructors are extremely experienced, so after completing PG2 I'm confident and comfortable flying. They're very flexible - Grey even worked on New Year's Day to make the most of a good weather opportunity.
