Update: It's been 18 months. They NEVER PAID. DO NOT USE THEM. Destroyed my lawn. Said they would pay but it’s been nearly six weeks and they still have not. I’ve tried and tried and all I get is that invoices are paid on the 20th of the month. Which month though??
Over the years I have moved 35 times, overseas and at home. Never have I experienced such a debacle. The move was booked for 0900hrs, friends and family organized to help. The evening before I received a phone call telling me the the time was now 1400hrs I objected, to no avail. My friends and family were unable to stay that long as they had other commitments. After 2 phone calls asking for my address they finally arrived at 1536hrs. At 2006hrs I was asked for a cash payment. The next evening I received a phone call asking me to take the cash to the office, I told the man he would be paid if he gave me the company bank details which he did. When I complain about my experience he said I would get a discount, the invoice I later received had no discount he finally gave me $49. I am in my 80's and it took me over a week to recover..
Not recommended at all. Initially quoted for a Christchurch move for a certain amount with professional packaging. On the day of pick up they didn’t even bother to pack my stuff, simply dumped in their truck. I had no choice but to get things out of their truck to avoid damage to my stuff. Rest assured they won’t do what they promise neither expect a professional communication. Good luck if you’re using them.
Booked through wise move. 1st truck 1 hour late, 2nd truck 8 hours late. Lots of damage, freezer has dents all over top, bed base ripped, chipped and scratched cabinets, upholstery was dirty, broken hose reel, and on and on I could go. Was offered a discount for the 2nd truck being so late but never received. Nice guys but definitely cannot recommend this company
I’m really disappointed to have to write this, given that I’ve used Hamilton Movers once before and found their service fantastic, but this time around I’ve been left feeling extremely upset and disrespected. Because of my previous experience, I chose Hamilton Movers to move my stuff from Hamilton to Karikari Peninsula, costing me a few thousand dollars. In the first 20 mins of them loading my things into the truck, I was feeling really anxious watching the men be so rough with my furniture. I made a few comments about being more careful, and felt brushed off. My stuff was all neatly stacked in storage, it had been there for 6 months, so I was checking over everything as it was being loaded. I had a bookcase I was going to leave behind, but one of the movers said he’d take it so I let him, as an extra koha. The following day they showed up at the wrong address, they called me and put the owner of that house on the phone to sort it out which I found super weird! They’d had my address for weeks prior to the move. Then, when they finally arrived at my actual address, they were even more rough with my things breaking several furniture items, and some glasses etc in boxes. They also new it was a multi level home prior to the move, but we’re going to leave everything in my garage on the bottom level. I had to ask them to take the heavy stuff upstairs which they seemed very unhappy about, and left half my things in the garage still. Given I’d paid thousands of dollars for their service, I felt pretty ripped off. When I noticed the broken dining room chairs, table, and broken and oil/stained couch, I showed them and tried to talk to them - visibly upset but still being calm and kind. They tried to tell me they were already like that and gave me lots of attitude, so I felt it was best to just let it go and email the company once they had left. When I did so, with photo proof of all the damage, I got no response at all. Nothing. My email was reasonable and factual, I wasn’t rude, I said I had insurance so wasn’t asking for anything but acknowledgment of what had happened, but I didn’t even get that. This has been a really awful experience to start the year off, and I would not recommend using Hamilton Movers to anyone.
Easy as, move was done fast and efficient, no complaints. Joe was a nice fella too, and did a good job (hope I remembered the name right). 5 stars.
We can't speak highly enough of the service we received from Hamilton Movers. The details of our move from Cambridge to Hawkes Bay in March kept changing because of the impact of Cyclone Gabrielle, but the contract was adjusted accordingly without any problem. The guys who picked up and delivered our goods were friendly and obliging. We recommend Hamilton Movers to anyone needing their goods transported.

Honestly these guys are the worst. Take no responsibility or care for moving entire house as quoted and paid for. They missed a large cabinet, small shelving unit and the 4 car loads of small items I had to move myself. When I asked when they were going to bring the remaining items over they offered to quote me for it. The movers were pleasant enough however not much care was taken and minor damage occurred to drawers and cabinets. Really interesting reading other reviews and can relate to any damage to items being blamed on the customer due to poor packing, totally unprofessional and no care given. Seriously go elsewhere they are not worth the headache!
