Safety concerns at the end of the cul de sac where you park the car. Was a very deviant man there loitering and me and my son walked back down to the car as he only did half the walk. I had a bad feeling it wasn't safe down there so I walked back down few minutes later to check and there was a man following him around. It was scarey, he could have approached my young son and been a danger. We walked straight to the car and left. That's just a warning for anyone wanting to do this walk I would not come up alone and don't split up either. Always be aware of your surroundings and lock the car with your valuables either in your bag or out of sight. Prefer other walking tracks now and avoid this one. It takes approx 90 minutes to go up to the top and back down. I enjoy it but my son's don't.

It's great to take your dog and super easy to accomplish for a bit of exercise. I enjoyed it a lot.

One of the better and easiest hiking trails in the city. It takes about an hour of relaxed hike / walk to the top of the Springs Rd. where the amazing views over Governor Bay awaits. It’s also one of the most popular tracks, mainly due to accessibility for all levels, so it gets very crowded especially on the weekends. Downside is that you have to juggle between annoying MTB bikers and people who are blind to understand that dogs are allowed only on the leads. Good luck trying to find parking spot as there aren’t that many on the street leading to trail, so you will have to park all the way down. Gravel road leading all the way isn’t also my first choice but makes it comfortable even for a pushchair to make the way to the top. Overall not my first choice , but every now and then will hike it for variety especially early morning before the crowds.

The walk starts uphill from the carpark and gradually goes flat half way of the track and goes uphill again till you reach the top. You can enjoy the view and cool breeze when you reach the top. If you also love downhill, this walk is good too- going back to the carpark, good work out for grip and shin muscles. It is undeniably well-known track for awesome view and good work out. ❀️

It's a relatively easy hike, the first part of it is fairly flat, it's near the end of the Rapaki Track where it is steepest ascending to the Summit Road. It takes about 30 minutes to walk up, a very popular walk on weekends. My only negative comment is due to the popularity, parking is rather tight due to the narrow road leading to the entrance.

Would def reccomend this track. Head to Rapaki road and park your car and enjoy a nice walk with great views of Christchurch. Only about 45mins each way. At the top can walk a further 10-15mins for views from Mt Vernon.
