It sayβs open but they are closed. Gates are closed. So disappointed. Supposed to collect my documents since Hokitika is not their jurisdiction. Travelled 4hours only to find out they are on holiday but website says βOPENβ.
Donβt let me in when I arrived at 3:50pm. You guys can just write on google maps working hours till 3:40pm. Donβt confuse people.
I was impressed by the swift service provided. The staff members were friendly ane helpful. Despite the inconvenience of only accepting cash payments, their efficiency and assistance made up for it.

Please note that the Consular Office of Japan has moved to a new building at 172 Hereford St (east of the Wilson's Parking).
They are very kind and helpful. I fully realized about I am still Japanese and looked after well by them. Because they are very organized and super professional, I am proud of them as a Japanese citizen. Thank you so much for your great help!
I've been to the JPN Consular office here in Chch a few times and it doesn't matter who you deal with you will get the same negative attitude from every staff member. I'm unsure if they are just understaffed but they always seem to be on their lunch breaks and closed during strange business hours. Please don't make the mistake of going during hours as advised on Google as you may see a note on their door saying they have closed for their lunch break.
