We had a great experience with McRent during our 15-day journey around this beautiful country. The camper van was reliable and comfortable, making our road trip smooth and enjoyable. She patiently guided us through how to use the vehicle in detail and walked us through everything clearly, ensuring we wouldn’t misuse anything or cause unnecessary damage. One piece of advice—definitely consider getting full insurance coverage. Parking a 7-meter vehicle isn’t always easy, and having that extra protection gives real peace of mind. My family & I (family of 13) rented out our McRent motorhomes via Sunrise Holidays in June 2023. On arrival, we were picked up from the airport to McRent Christchurch via shuttle. We had Grace for our pick up & drop off and she was amazing. We rented out 2 4 berths & 1 6 berth motorhomes for 12 days. We truly enjoyed ourselves. One of our motorhomes had a flat battery but NZ Road Recovery came & fixed the problem, within 2 hours we were back on the road. Need not pay as we’ve already took the zero excess insurance. Everything was workable and in new condition. Would recommend McRent Christchurch to our families & friends. And thank you again Grace!
Small campervan rental company compared to the big names. But we were satisfied with the van. We rented the Family Plus. Would have been perfect if they have provided us with more toilet chemical so we could empty the cassette daily.
McRent Christchurch is the best campervan company we've come across. They are incredible hospitable and helpful. They provide all the information you need for your journey and their campervans are the best quality and layouts. We've rented other campervans but the McRent easily had the best storage and layout for our family of four to comfortably ride across New Zealand. In addition the staff was so understanding and relaxed that it made our rental so comfortable. You won't regret renting from McRent Christchurch.
Just brilliant. Please book with this lovely group. This was our first motorhome holiday and McRent were fantastic from start to finish. They responded to all our novice questions quickly during the booking and pre trip process. Both out of the Auckland and Christchurch offices. It put our minds at ease right away. The pick up was smooth and all the features were clearly explained. This gave us plenty of confidence setting off. More detail was given than the videos (sent out before travelling) with some first hand familiarity giving us the assurance to sit behind the wheel. The motorhome is easy to drive. We had the Family Plus for 2 adults and 2 big kids and this van is sizable. But not once did the size concern me driving in either the countryside or urban environment. Big on the outside means big inside. There is a heap of room. The beds are huge and comfortable. Linen provided kept us plenty warm during the cold September nights. Enough to have the van heater turned way down and that saved gas. There is so much storage. We kept finding more during the trip. The kitchen is well supplied and we didn’t miss out on anything that we wanted to cook. The stove top burners had plenty of space around them to do multiple things at once. The oven came in so handy. The fridge is enormous and kept things very cold. All the cutlery, crockery and glassware you need is there too. The motorhome is very modern, clean and comfortable. Plenty of lighting and shades do a good job. There are plenty of USB ports for charging while driving and camping. Also plenty of mains plugs for when you’re connected. Plus a couple of 12V outlets. Music through Bluetooth connection to the phone makes for good entertainment when camping but when on the road, there’s too much road and van noise to hear properly. Doesn’t matter though as the countryside provides all the joy you need. For those wanting to plan ahead and/or on a budget, the fuel economy was just shy of 14.5 litres per 100km for us. We had to top up the AdBlue once after about 1300km’s then again after another 1100km. I would thoroughly recommend McRent to anyone doing a motorhome trip in NZ. There is not one negative thing I could say about them. This is the best way to see NZ and this company is the best company to do it with.
We had booked our Luxury Comfort Motor Home with Claudia in Auckland, and picked up at Christchurch Depot. The team is very helpful and considerate, we enjoyed our entire trip especially the kids. Compared with the other Motor Home we hired couple years ago, this is a fancy version of Home Away Home with spacious lounge area, separate toilet and bathroom and also convertible beds...The vehicle was operated by gas without plug in to power site, so we had been been on freedom camp for couple of days and loved it! High recommend this Motor Home if you are looking for a safe way to travel during pandemic. Thank you McRent for the unforgettable memories of our family adventure!
