We traveled to Christchurch for a short brake and noticed our WOF had just run out and we couldn't book on line however we turned up at VTNZ and even though it was bookings only the team undertook the WOF. We where really thankful for this service. Thank you so much.

We patiently waited in the queue, the staff member was on her own so it took a while for us to get to the front. During our wait, the staff member put up a sign saying that they were running at a limited capacity. When we got to the front of the queue we were told that they were not doing learners licenses today due to low staffing and they pointed to the sign and refused to process our application. She knew we were waiting and were in the queue when she changed the rules and the least she could have done was tell those of us who were waiting.

My mother booked my car in for a WOF today at 10:40am. She arrived on time and chose to wait, assuming that having an appointment meant the process would be reasonably quick. Unfortunately, the man doing the WOFs spent a lot of time texting on his phone, which held up several customers. Since we live nearby, Mum ended up walking home, and my car wasn’t ready until after 1pm. This also happened during our last visit, but we gave the benefit of the doubt at the time. There won’t be a third chance. If you book a WOF here, expect to be waiting most of the day.

Sat my full in the morning (8am), had Toni, a not very nice lady. From the start very abrupt and unfriendly. Failed: received two critical errors. 1st one was for not checking left and right before crossing a railway line, I vividly remember checking because there were kids on scooters either side and even though the line was green I slowed down to 10 just in case. 2nd one was for driving 40 in a 50. This I did do, but it was a neighbourhood street with cars parked on the left and right which made the road narrow. If I were to go 50 I would have not had enough time to stop to give way to oncoming traffic. Once she told me I failed she continued to tell me I “checked my mirrors too often”, in my driving lessons I was taught to check them every 15 seconds and I probably did every 30 seconds. I also should check my blind spot “as I am moving into the lane”. That comment explains it for itself. Anyway, rebooked the test for 3:30 the same day and took my mum to sit in the back just in case I got Toni again. Arnold took me, and I passed with one error which I knew I had done as soon as it happened. He also went through way more instructions and had me fill out paper work which Toni never did. Almost like she had no plans of passing me. Advice for anyone taking their full here: the route is actually very simple and easy so don’t stress about that, however I would recommend bringing a support person to sit in the car just in case you get a tester like Toni.Testers like her for some reason like taking advantage of their power and it’s gross.

I'm happy to write that I passed my full driving test. I couldn't have done it without my driver testing officer Anne I would like to thank her for being so patient, and for making sure I understood what it meant to be a safe and responsible driver.Anne was very informative, and I really appreciate her encouragement. Even the reception staff were so kind and making me feel more comfortable were i was bit nervous. I will definitely recommend VTNZ Northwood to my family and friends.

Did my full license test here and can't believe how much time I wasted with rude, unfair staff at VTNZ Sockburn back when I was doing my restricted. The office staff were very lively and personable and the testing officer Shane was no different - helped ease my nerves while being thorough and giving great advice that had never occurred to me or come up in lessons.

Would not recommend going here if you’re looking at sitting a driving test. Such unprofessional and rude staff. When I walked in, the receptionist worker was busy talking to a mechanic at the front desk; she didn’t greet me or even look over. When I walked up to the front desk, she told me to sit down as they don’t open until 0830 - it was 0828… So I sat down waiting for her to be ready, she then continued with her conversation. She then served the next person that walked in, after this I walked back up to the counter and mentioned that I have a driving test booked in. She then stated “well you’re not going to be very popular today”. I was confused as to what she meant, she then explained that the driving officers were very busy today. Not sure what their flawed system has to do with me - also I didn’t actually book in for this day, I originally booked for a month ago but they sent me a text (about an hour before the test time) to say that they had cancelled it therefore they had rescheduled me to this day. The driving instructor was also blunt and rude, no manners whatsoever. She should not be in a job where she needs to interact with people. The instructors name was Rahera. For anyone who has already booked their test here, I would strongly encourage you to change your booking to somewhere else. If you need to do your test here, just be aware that when they direct you back to the facility, they will get you to turn off the main road and onto a street that leads to the mall car parking. As you’ve turned off this main road, and now on the private road that leads to the mall - ensure that you are only going 10KM otherwise they will fail you. The pictures on google maps shows 20KM signage however this is not correct. Honestly just felt like a way to try and fail people right at the end of their test. The only redeeming quality of this experience was that the other worker at the front desk (the person who completed my eye exam) was friendly, professional and approachable. Great customer service skills this person has, she is an asset to your team.

I just passed my restricted test here. I was feeling very nervous due to me failing 2 times prior at a different location. The instructor, Shane, calmed me down and made sure i felt as confident as possible by having conversations with me throughout the test. Shane definitely deserves a raise.

I recently took my driving test at VTNZ Northwood and I couldn't be happier with the service I received. The reception team was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making me feel comfortable and at ease before my test. Shane- my tester was also very professional and knowledgeable, guiding me through the test and giving me helpful feedback afterwards. Overall, my experience at VTNZ Northwood was outstanding, and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to take their driving test. Thank you for making my experience a positive one
