    Had a Cash settlement but been fined by developers because my solicitor didn’t get my preparation documents done. My money is there on time, but settlement can’t happen so got fined, also the same time, they charge me more fee because apparently there is more work need to be done.

    DON'T USE FOR PROPERTY TRANSACTIONS WITH GST Early this year the IRD picked up a property we had sold about 2 years ago. The GST schedule didn't mean what we thought it meant. So basically we now have a bill of over $70,000 to pay. Lewis Lawyers acted for us. Despite on their website they cover "tax implications of property transactions", we were negligently advised. So after a $15,000 bill to another solicitor in trying to fight this, we are still left with the IRD bill as in Lewis words we are "sophisticated business people" who should have been able to work this out for ourselves. Our new solicitor found several areas of negligence in this file, and we were never once informed of the tax implications. Despite this, the law WILL NOT protect you, and Lewis cannot be forced to pay. It's too much money for small claims and too little for full court so you can't do anything but enter into a never ending email chain which only costs you more money. Shame on you Lewis Lawyers. Don't think you are protected, or that you will get the level of service which you are entitled to. More than happy to provide more supporting information for anybody reading this.

    Had a prenuptual agreement to go over with them. Another Cambridge lawyer conducted two face to face interviews and wrote up the original document and discussed the pertinent clauses . The complete agreement was then sent through to Lewis Law. Their input involved reading through the document with me, and adjusting one clause. Time taken approx 20 mins. For this they charged more than the first lawyer. Just a tad greedy I think. Would not use again.
