   I started learning cello as an adult with Marisha two years ago. I can't speak highly enough of her as a cello teacher. As well as being a talented professional cellist in her own right, she is approachable, patient and motivating. Marisha never makes you feel bad if you don’t get it immediately – she is very patient and positive, adapting the lesson to your needs. From the very first cello lesson with Marisha, she makes sure you get the fundamental techniques right. This is critically important - And from that foundation, you can then go as far as you want. Two years on, the sound I can now get out of my cello is resonant and rich. The pieces I can now play have far exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend Marisha as a cello teacher – you won't be disappointed!

   As an adult learner I was always treated with respect. As a beginner I was treated with patience. And as a developping player I always felt supported and cared for. Marisha gave of her time and experience willingly and generously and my love for learning never waivered from day 1 under her guidance. My subsequent teacher, Marko Lopez de Vicuna, a student of Janos Starker told me there was nothing in my technique that needed "fixing". She will always be my cello mum and I am so grateful for the start she gave me! Thank you!!

   Marisha is an excellent cello teacher. She is very knowledgeable about cello, sharing her knowledge very generously. But she is also exceptionally kind, always making time to check in before and after lessons to ask how you’re doing and what you’ve been up to. She sees and understands that her students are more than just cello players, seeing them as very real and unique people Marisha is very easy to communicate with and responds to messages via Facebook Messenger usually within an hour or two. Pricing for lessons is also very fair, and Marisha makes sure that the full lesson time is spent playing and learning- she doesn’t cut any corners. In the four months I spent taking lessons with Marisha, she helped me learn and fix problems in my cello playing that had been hindering me for over a decade. Never before have I had a teacher who cares so much and is so dedicated to her students. She thinks about the progress of her students and what else she can teach them even in her free time, bringing new ideas and techniques into lessons. I would recommend Marisha to anyone interested in cello playing in the Bay of Plenty area. Whether you’re a beginner or you’ve played cello for years, she has so much knowledge to share about cello. Not only is Marisha an exceptional player, but she’s also an exceptionally kind person.

   Marisha is fantastic, and incredibly patient teacher, who's not afraid to take on an adult beginner! The lessons are an enjoyable blend of technical and melodic work. You never feel rushed, or held back, she meets you where you are, and at the end each of lesson there's a real sense of progress having been made. Definitely the highlight of my week!

   Marisha is an amazing cellist and teacher. She is supportive, patient and has a wonderful ability to bring the best out of your playing. She provides practical examples of ways you can improve your technique and musicality. At the beginner level, she prioritises the foundational basics and the importance of technique. Her passion for the cello shines through during lessons. She has a natural intuition as a musician and a lot of orchestral experience which is evident in her teaching.
