I use my local pool to keep fit by using their aqua classes. They have the largest range of classes and their instructors are friendly, knowledgeable and fun. They also have a therapeutic pool with a temperature of 36°C, love to use it to ease any aches and pains, and help stretch out the body.
Lovely pools though a little small for the young ones. Facilities are good and the staff are very friendly.
We were staying at Rolleston recently and therefore, quite looking forward to using the Selwyn Aquatic Centre, (and perhaps comparing with Taiora QEII's pools). Staff were polite and helpful, without exception. The showers in the women's change rooms were adequate but lacked even a small shelf for body wash or shampoo, and an interesting effect was the amount, and colours, of the stray long hairs, decorating the cubicle walls. Sadly the hydrotherapy, and spa pools, were both far from warm enough, the flotation and resistance dumbell devices were also small and inadequate for a serious physiotherapy program. After I completed my physiotherapy, we moved on to aqua-jogging and thus we were utilising the deep end for the time we spent in the hydrotherapy pool. On moving onto the spa pool, I was unpleasantly surprised when I became aware of the amount of grime built up on the tops of both pools' edges where people grip, and lean, or sit. If this is difficult to remove there are simple cleaning devices that could be used for powered scrubbing. Overall, just disappointing and grubby.
Really beautiful swimming pool! It has a 25m pool, a 20m pool, a hot pool, and a kids' pool. So far, I’ve been there three weekends in a row, and each time I had an entire lane to myself. Such a great swimming experience! Also, the receptionist is super friendly!

really great hydro therapy pool and complex. just one thing I'd like to say is , that for the elderly, or disabled, it would be good to have the odd wheelchair around. My wife and i attended recently and having broken her ankle 6 months ago, and finding the concrete hard to walk on, had no way to lessen the pressure on her affected foot. Otherwise great!
Consistent disappointing experiences. Harassed by staff for simply being “too fast” to be deemed a public swimmer. Forced to pay to book lanes and pay entry fee, just to be able to swim in local facilities. How hard should it be for nz representatives to simply be able to train? Do better SDC!
Good little pool if your child is any older than 7 years old they would be board within a hour, no slides or diving boards only a small play area for young children. No cafe or hot drinks or food available. Just had a new 25 meter pool fitted last year but they always seem to be booked and busy in the afternoons.
Great swimming pool with plenty of car parks. They offer swimming lessons for kids and adults. Only one spa pool available and it's not hot as Jelly Park in Christchurch city. Does not have sauna facilities.
