Doctors at the UC health clinic are lovely, and that’s where the positives end! I received a call from a receptionist about a $5 missed payment (which I got confused about on Manage My Health) and she was incredibly rude to me, saying that I should be charged more, huffing and puffing about me asking questions, etc.

Unfortunately, after speaking to two different receptionists, I ended up waiting 45 minutes to see a doctor to obtain a piece of paper that cost $75. I understand the doctor may have been with another patient, but no one informed me of the delay, even though I was the only person in the waiting room. I needed a medical report to justify delays in my study due to my hand injury. No new examination was required, as I have been seeing a doctor here regularly for the past eight months, and all my records are on file. Even the doctor seemed surprised by the fee, but the reception staff proceeded with the charge. Given that international students pay $855 per year for health coverage, it was unexpected to be charged $75 for a brief medical statement. I hope the centre can consider clearer communication about wait times and documentation fees in the future, especially when the center already has our medical record. A $75 for a piece of paper maybe small for the health center, but for many students it equals to a whole week grocery spending. Please do not assume that we all bring bags of money to this country!

I would like to express my concern about the unprofessional attitude of one of the receptionists. When I asked about a payment I was being asked to make, she refused to explain the reason thoroughly beforehand and said, β€œI’ll tell you why after you pay.” I found this response unreasonable and dismissive. As a patient, I have the right to understand what I am being charged for before making any payment. When I tried to ask further, she ignored my inquiry and only said she was too busy. I understand that everyone has their responsibilities and busy schedules β€” I am also a student and under pressure β€” but basic respect and communication should not be neglected in a healthcare setting. I hope this matter can be looked into, and that better communication and patient care can be ensured in the future.

I've been the Medical Center occasionally throughout my 8 years of study, and they've generally been excellent. The medical center was always easy to deal with, appointments ran on time, and Dr. Jane Scott in particular provided exceptional care. She's friendly, professional, and offered great advice that addressed my concerns effectively. Unfortunately, I've had to leave the practice as I'm no longer a student, but I highly recommend this medical center to anyone seeking reliable healthcare with minimal hassle.

The health centre is full closed from before Christmas until after the 21st of Jan. This might be understandable if it was just no appointments but there is no-one dealing with prescriptions, checking emails, or even answering phones. Not to mention issues with them saying you're not enrolled at the University and they can't help you if you have yet to pay your fees and accept your agreement for the next year

Specialists in horrible patient service. Terrible experience with front desk receptionist; She was quite rude, snappy and condescending. Not everyone understands the design of your health center but it can surely be explained in a kind manner.

Bad experience of the receptionist. Very rude. Not everyone knows what you know. Never have an assumption on anybody else especially on a patient. You have thousand ways to nicely serve people, yet, you chose the worst one. Never had a chance to see the doctor as I already dissapointed with the receptionist. I think they keep doing bad service so less and less people will go there. Thus, their job will be easier. (It is not good to have other people have an assumption on you, right?) I think university management should jump in and recover their bad reputation through better customer service.

Not sure what all the negative reviews are about. Just used this service for the first time and had a great experience with reception as well as the health professionals. New management?

Long waits, incorrectly charged, some receptionists are great however a few still are quite rude. Some doctors work one day a week, if sick get told to wait 1-2 weeks for an appointment. Takes months to be seen by a counselor or pyschologist, ambulance seems to be at the bottom of the cliff. I hope some postive changes are finally made, as seen with the horrific reviews. I expect UC and the UCSA to take these reviews seriously as students & staff should be given the appropriate care they need. It really does sadden me having to write this after so many years.

This is quite possibly the worst health centre possible. I came here since it was cheaper than my usual GP, and unfortunately the service reflects the price. I was consistently ignored and offered unreasonable solutions for my health issues, and had to fight to get referred to any type of specialist help. Even just today, I was spoken to rudely by a receptionist over the phone, even after asking if there was any help for people who had to un-enrol (which was for health reasons), which I was blatantly told that its "not their issue". I am genuinely angry over this service, as I was left with no solutions to my pain for almost 6 months due to the poor GP's, who seem to have got their qualifications off the back of a cereal box. If you have complex health, or mental health, spend that extra bit of cash literally anywhere else!! Save yourself the struggle
