Severe professional boundary violations by support worker, which caused significant emotional harm and trauma. Currently under review by the Health and Disability Commissioner. Concerns include lack of oversight and systemic issues across the organisation. Unsafe organisation that protects its unsafe staff instead of vulnerable clients.

I stayed in Stepping Stone, due a mental health crisis. I stayed at the place on Domain Tce, Spreydon; In 2023. The way in which I was supported was of utmost kindness and respect. Infill never forget the staff and the people I met there. Ngā mihi Nicole

This organisation will seem welcoming at first, but it is a horrible place that is full of false promises and lies. There were a couple decent staff who I have to give credit to, but the rest will belittle you or be entirely the opposite of helpful -Especially in times of crisis. (High staff turn over too). They don’t take complaints seriously and just don’t want to hear it if you’ve got an issue with something. Staff pick and choose favourites and if your not one of them then tough luck really. If your a quiet/reserved person, be prepared to be ignored and left on your own when all you actually need is someone to listen to you, especially if your prone to isolating yourself. Staff will attend to those who are “loud” about their issues to say the least, though that’s only if they feel like it. On the rare times when I would vocalise my issues, some staff would take it as me being violent when really I just wanted someone to hear me and help me. Worse off then when I went in (though staff have said and will say otherwise if you tell them that your doing worse). One staff member in particular in residential will try tell you that going to church will solve all your problems too.. Personally, I’d avoid at all costs. 2 stars is being generous.

I use to love going to stepping stones both planned respite and crises respite. I stopped going to planned respite as I felt bullied by the house manager there would pick in choose who she wanted there would give out her personal number to clients. She would constantly cancel my bookings so now I will not use that service. With crises respite while most of the staff are friendly and helpful there is a staff member there who often is a bully to both clients and staff she is very rude and not welcoming I'll never go to stepping stones again

Absolutely brilliant. There are absolutely no judgements at all. My CSW is easy to get along with and as I'm someone who doesn't easily get along with people, He works well with me. Sometimes I just need someone to talk to who's not going to judge and I feel like this service is helping with that. I think it might be Christian based but there's been no mention of religion which is good. I highly recommend Stepping Stones to anyone who's going through a rough time.

Visited there once to see someone. That person has been there several times. I was really impressed by the caring and professional staff. Place was clean, tidy and quiet which is what you would expect for a respite care facility. Not sure why these other reviews are so negative - there are always those who see the glass half empty and those who see the glass half full.
