Thank you to my wonderful Tutor Sommer O'Shea and Murray Bladen. Who helped support me through the level 4 fitness leader cert. Even though I had some pretty problematic health struggles going on, Sommer showed me how it was possible to do the practical and how you may need to know how to do things if you ever have an injury and can't demo for your clients. This allowed me to learn and succeed. Sommer, Thank you so much for your excellent guidance and support! Sommer was always calm and supportive, great with details. During assessment with Sommer she was always calm and supportive, and the feed-back would always help me improve. Murray was always cheerful and helpful during assessments, he also gives great feed-back. Ngā mihi nui.

I've just completed the Diploma and wouldn't hesitate to recommend NZIHF if you want to be Personal Trainer. The standouts for me were the teaching (Sommer), the supportive environment, the variety of learning resources and - very important - the evidence-based approach to exercising and related health subjects. Really excellent. Oh, and we also had fun!

I have completed my certificate and diploma in exercise via distance learning. I started this to get a better understanding of what I can do to increase my own health and fitness and case out woth the tools to help others too. While the certificate gives you a foundation, its the diploma that really starts getting into the science of it all and the part that I enjoyed the most. Being able to study at your own pace was really good combined with a mountain of support from my tutor (Mel! Who was fantastic every step of the way) youre given everything you need to learn and pass. The team are incredibly friendly and supportive and id highly recommend this to anyone in the fitness industry, getting into the industry, or just wanting the understanding for themselves.

I started the NZIHF Personal Trainers course in January/February and finished my last in-class session on Monday 18 August, with my final assessment due by the end of August. The course was a mix of online study and once-a-week classes, which worked really well for me. The in-class sessions were definitely the highlight. Being able to connect with other students, ask questions, and bounce ideas off each other made all the studying make sense. My tutor, Sommer, was amazing she explained everything clearly, always answered every question, and made the learning process enjoyable. I really respected that she never singled anyone out if they didn’t feel like speaking up or answering she created a very comfortable learning environment. The hardest part was the amount of study and keeping up with the workload, but it was also rewarding and pushed me to stay disciplined. I’ve learned so much about programme design, working with different populations, and how to safely and effectively train clients. These skills are exactly what I need as I get ready to launch my own personal training business, and I feel confident moving into the industry. Overall, I’d definitely recommend NZIHF to anyone wanting to become a personal trainer. The mix of online learning and in-person support makes it manageable, and having knowledgeable tutors like Sommer really makes the difference.

Just finished the Fitness Leader and PT course here in Ōtautahi and man what a tumeke course! My tutors (Sommer and Shaun) were approachable and very knowledgable which ensured an enjoyable and safe environment to study in. Overall an awesome course and I can't wait to start training clients!

Great supportive environment to learn! Not a walk in the park but worth every minute. Having prior experience at the gym is an advantage, I didn't have much experience but still managed to complete the course and enjoy it. I now feel confident creating my own training programs for clients.

The school did an amazing job in preparing us for the industry. Our Teacher Sommer O'Shea was a very fun and supportive tutor during studies and would always make time to give a student additional help if they needed it. I did the level 4 and 5 course and felt it was more focused on the Personal Training and business side of the industry (which I liked) and not on learning the gym and form, etc.. which some people study it for. Overall I was very happy with my time spend there and would recommend it to anyone wanting to start up their Personal Training Business.

I have just finished studying through NZIHF and I could not recommend it more. I have come out of the course with a job in the fitness industry and my level 4 and 5. The tutors are so helpful and work you to your full potential. I have also made many new friends throughout the course.
