Moving from Aus I was quite nervous about finding a good GP but I feel very fortunate to have found Dr Brandon Rickards at Fendalton Medical Centre. He always takes the time to listen empathetically, investigate my symptoms, and has always referred me to specialists when needed. In addition, the whole team are kind and efficient!

Recently our family went through the Influenza B virus doing its rounds. Having initially spent some time at the emergency, it was still unclear what the initial diagnosis was, until we saw our GP at the Fendalton Medical Centre. Not only did he take his time, ensuring we got the care we needed, he didn't stop investigating the symptoms till he found the root cause. Lastly, the final diagnosis was personally phoned through by our GP at 21H00 on a Friday night!!! Now that's medical care. Thank you Doc for looking out for my best medical interests and being dedicated to medical care.

I went into see Dr Brandon Rickards. I was having difficult mental health issues, and when I spoke to him about them, he looked at me and said. "What do you expect me to do about it?" I was completely taken aback by this. He looked at my medical history and saw that I'd been on antidepressants before. I explained more about what I was going through and asked for his advice. Again, he said, "what do you want me to do about your mental health issues?" I'm no doctor. I don't know about these things, that's why I came to see him. He was heartless, cruel and dismissive of me and my health. He asked if I knew about ADHD. I told him that I had been diagnosed for it, but those records were with the Waikato health board and I couldn't afford to pay $1200 for another one. He scoffed at me and said, "pfft. Just get a job and save up" I had already told him about how I was going through the charity hospital to get some work needed to be done, and they would only help me as long as I was on a benefit. Which is the way I was trying to find a part-time job, but I had had no success. I almost broke down crying, on how desperate for help I was. Even still. He said "go get a job" and "what do you want me to do about it" and when I broke down and almost started crying he told me to leave, and refused to help me any further. Dr Brandon Rickards, is an evil and cruel man, who has no business calling himself a doctor. The way I was treated was completely unacceptable.

If I could give zero stars I would. Your doctor is an absolute joke. Did he get his certificate out of a cereal box. Telling someone who wants help loosing weight to keep getting fat and get diabetes? Like wow. I'll be moving doctors what a joke

I have nothing but positives to say about this medical centre. Receptionist is wonderful, went out of her way to help, and secure a same day appointment. Calm (organised) and efficient (running to time) staff, but very compassionate and caring at the same time. Highly recommend to others but just remember to be kind! All these medical centers are very stretched at the moment so a little patience and kindness goes a very long way and will be reciprocated! Easy parking and access too, right in the mall so you can pick up you prescription and do the groceries at the same time!

The doctor is very knowledgeable and actually nice but you have to go through the rude receptionist first. She is so Karen and not helpful at all especially with sick patients. What a shame.
