This review is only based on the Admin of Anteris. It's been extremely difficult to get in touch with an administrative staff member. They only accept email communication, but responses are significantly delayed. When calling, you're automatically directed to a voicemail without the option to speak to anyone directly. I've been trying to resolve an error in my current medication prescription, but I've only been told to speak to the doctor at my next appointmentβwhich is still a month away. This issue affects my current script, so it can't wait that long. Edit: The day after posting this review I received an email with a discharge letter and cancelling my upcoming appointment. I waited almost 2 weeks to get my refund. I can thank Dr Armstrong for helping me get back on track but I do feel like it he could have seen me one more time to discuss my meds. It isn't easy to get proper help in the public system and even getting an appointment with a private psychiatrist isn't easy. It is really bad that there are no way of getting in contact with an actual person and not just an answering machine or email. I was luckily in a good space mentally when this happened. But it can cost a life if this has to happen to me or someone in a very dark space. Please do proper research if you need help to find a provider that will meet your needs. Just know it can get better (not always easy) and that more meds doesn't always solve the problems. All the best to anyone reading this and is in a dark spot in live. I know it can feel like it will never get better.

SCAM. Do not use this service! Would give a minus star if I could. I had a deeply disappointing experience with Anteris. Initially, I felt hopeful and safe in their care, but that quickly changed. They are quick in response to take your payments and then after the fact absolutely ghost you. IT TOOK MONTHS of back and forward to get responses from their team. They HIDE behind multiple email addresses which all go to the same people (it's a tiny office) and you can't contact them via phone. It is owned by the Psychiatrist Dr Caleb Armstrong so please do not be fooled into thinking he's got no idea what's going on, he is well aware. After paying upwards of $7000 for treatment, including an initial consultation and a three-month program (I did it for less than a month as it made me unwell) I was abruptly discharged without any consultation or discussion of alternatives, despite being promised one. When I reached out for clarification and a breakdown of costs, I received a vague response that felt like a cop-out. They couldn't tell me what my money had gone toward. It was frustrating to learn that my concerns were essentially being ignored. I also discovered numerous negative reviews online, echoing my experience. Had I read those beforehand, I would have chosen a different clinic. The refund offered was inadequate, especially given the lack of services rendered and not providing any alternative, follow up or referral elsewhere as promised in my initial consult and in my contract signed and I had spent further money for travel and consultations so overall, engaging with this service for a few weeks cost me $8000 and I got $1500 back. It feels like they prioritise taking money from vulnerable patients over providing genuine care. People go here at their most desperate for alternative treatment options and they do not follow their duty of care to you whatsoever. They are under investigation by the HDC and my complaint will add to that pile. I expected much better from a professional healthcare provider. This experience has been incredibly disheartening, and I urge others to consider these issues before engaging with Anteris. They are negligent and dangerous.

I've had a wonderful experience with Anteris. The wait time to be seen was about 6 weeks, but getting a referral was fairly straightforward. It's worth noting that this is a significantly shorter than the wait times in the public health system. The psychiatrists themselves are excellent and obviously very good at what they do. Their manner in consults is perfect, both understanding and compassionate as well as pragmatic. I've left each of my consults feeling very listened to and taken seriously which at times seems like a rarity. The treatment I have been prescribed has worked very well, it really has been life changing. While it is expensive, my experience with Anteris and the solutions they have prescribed me have been invaluable and worth every cent.

Do they require payment upfront and this feels weird? Yes. Are they expensive? Yes. Is there a wait time? Yes. ...but that's private health in New Zealand for you. Anteris isn't the only one and these aspects are a symptom of a bigger, deeper problem. That said, my experience with Anteris has been EXCELLENT. The admin team would promptly reply to my emails, they were friendly and helpful, and sent all the info I needed before my appointment. The psychiatrist I had my tele-consults with is spectacular. He was direct, knowledgeable, open, friendly and very easy to talk to. We managed to pinpoint what the issues were and come up with a treatment option that has been life-changing for me over the past couple of months. The what's, why's and how's were clearly defined, as well as the treatment process moving forward. All very professional and reassuring. It was money well spent and I recommend this clinic.

There are a lot of negative reviews owing to the wait times and the fact payment is required within 48 hours. I'm not sure how much Anteris can be blamed for this. They're a private service and they explain that people were canceling appointments and ensuring quick payment is probably the best way to make sure people show up. I don't really think Anteris can be blamed for the wait times given that they seem to be experiencing a lot of demand. My (ongoing) experience with them has been good so far and I'd recommend them. I'd just note that you need to be able to pay up front and be willing to wait a few months.

My GP sent an urgent referral back in April and still haven't heard anything or been able to get in touch with anyone. Followed up with GP in June and was told they had received it and someone would be in touch soon to arrange something and still nothing. Absolutely appalling (lack of) service

I am actually shocked by how bad my experience with Anteris has been. They were extremely responsive when it came to securing payment for appointments but the interest in their patients seems to end there. It took over a week to even get a response about a repeat prescription, only to be told my doctor was happy I had 'stabilised' on the medication (no communication took place to confirm this with me) and to get it from my GP in the future. Tried to ask again as my GP has no availability but got no reply. Tried to access an urgent prescription through my GP but I could not, as my special authority and prescriptions had never been sent through by Anteris to my GP! It is impossible to talk to anyone over the phone (goes straight to a voicemail service), and have had no luck with emailing either. I am now following up months later to get a copy of the report from my assessment (which I assumed would be sent to me without having to ask) and have just sent my third email. It is actually embarrassing how little care they have for patients - I understand that this is a profit driven business, but they should be ashamed of the service they provide. I expected so much more when paying a premium to access private psychiatric care.

I had an absolutely lovely experience with Anteris. I was hesitant to be referred due to the reviews on here, but despite those reviews, Anteris has been nothing but amazing during my ADHD diagnosis process. I first called them before they changed their phones to answer phone and a woman who answered was extremely kind in assisting me through the steps of getting diagnosed and a referral as it was my first time in the mental health system and I was only 17. My GP referred me to Anteris and they accepted my referral extremely fast and I had an initial appointment in less than a month of my referral. I saw Dr Leigh Meldrum who was extremely lovely (sad to see her go but wish her well back in Canada). The receptionists were also very lovely, both times I was in the practice. After my initial appointment, they were able to book me in for a months time away for a follow up and it was a very quick and easy process. My scripts for my medication from both my initial and follow up appointment were printed out for me to take to my pharmacy and I was able to get them the same day of the appointments. Prior to my follow up appointment, I had forgotten to pay my booking and so I phoned them and left a message the day after the due date and they were very understanding and called me back the same day to allow me to put the payment through. Not once did I feel any stress regarding payments, appointments, emails or phone calls with Anteris Tauranga. They have been extremely prompt to me and an overall great experience. I am sad to say goodbye to Anteris as now I will be at my GP for any dosage changes and repeats, but I appreciate all they have done. Many reviews state that they 'didn't get the medication right' or 'they don't reply immediately', and as much as these reviews have understandable concern, these receptionists and the Anteris company as a whole do what they can to respond to their many voice mails and emails in a day. In the end, the staff are only human and people can only do so much, and regarding medication, it is about trial and error to find what works best and you have to be willing to test it. There is no magical pill that will 'cure' you immediately, it is a process and it is important to respect this as it is your mental health that this affects. Thank you so much Anteris, I sincerely apologize on behalf of some of these terrible reviews and I hope that you are able to rebuild this company back in other locations again sometime. Thank you for all of your help with my diagnosis.

I haven't even been to my appointment yet and they've done the following: Been completely terrible at communication. Takes them weeks to get back to you from a messege you left on their, clearly overflowing, answering machine (or email) Sent me text after text after email after missed call (I had my phone on silent for like 20 minutes. Figures.) saying that I had no paid for my appointment and if I didn't pay they would cancel it (I HAD paid. And it took them weeks to realise this) causing me added stress which I did not need. They have changed my appointment time to a week later however I have already booked and PAID FOR travel up to Tauranga that I can't cancel. If your doctor refers you to Anteris, save yourself the trouble and request anyone else.

I have met online with Dr Meldrum twice. I think she's fantastic. After my first appointment, prescription was ready at my pharmacy by the time I finished work and follow up booked. After my last appointment on Friday, no script turned up. I tried to ring and got given multiple options for medication i.e. "push 2 for..." and basically told to call my Dr. I ended up having to email twice and the script was finally send half an hour after the pharmacy closed for the weekend. Not ideal when the Dr had been writing my script whilst we were talking, 7 hours prior to the pharmacy closing. When I heard back, the response was very bleh and obviously the person on the other end didn't give a rats. My son is due a referral and to be honest I am considering going elsewhere for him, not because of the Dr, but because of the complacent attitude it seems of everyone else. If I'm paying big money I expect decent service.
