Uneducated, Unprofessional, Lack of care, Lack of understanding and useless. If you want your child to feel cared for, Cahms is not the one. I was a young patient with bipolar disorder, Suicidal - Theyll let your child sit in that feeling for a long time, until the day they hope to feel better comes along. Committed and in hospital - they’ll just ship your child to starship, after committing , your child may be vulnerable and lie about how they feel, Cahms won’t try to slip through the lies to help your child, They’ll just load up more and more medication . They do not care how your child feels. Your child needs someone to talk too - They’ll set up a 1 hour appointment, Your child will vent, And at the end of the appointment they’ll forget everything your child says and flick them a medication. If I can tell you now, Putting your child under cahms for support is only making your child go through everything they need help with alone. Cahms is a false hope and A false sense a help. Do not let your child feel unheard and uncared for, because at the end of the day, I wouldn’t be able to tell you one good thing cahms did to help improve myself. Talking from experience. Dont go to cahms.
I would like to give them less than 0 stars,The reason for this is that I had gone for counseling today along with my daughter.My daughter was mentally upset. She had watched some horror videos and read horror books.Watching horror videos on laptop And the nightmares started after reading a horror novel from college.When we went to him today for counseling, I told the doctor that I told my daughter not to watch anything like horror videos on her laptop.So the counselor said that you should not control the child's freedom, let him see and study, what's the matter?We know that we have become mentally upset by watching horror videos and reading horror novels. So why can't we stop our child, if a counselor tells us in front of my child,So our son will never listen to us, we will never be able to control him, I had one more thing to say to you all.My daughter is not mentally well, I am her mother, why should I go knocking on my daughter's door when my daughter acts like a nightmare, what should I do first to my daughter? I asked him to come inside and not, the counselor told me to do so. Can such counselors, such doctors cure children, I never want to go back to them now.
The Incredible years course run here a couple of years ago was very helpful with wonderful support. Wish I'd known about it sooner.
If I could give it a zero I would. I had been in and out of this service for years. In 2021/22 I was told by them that there was nothing wrong with me, that I didn’t have depression and I wasn’t suicidal even though I was in the hospital after an attempt. They kept saying I’m fine and took me off all medications that were helping me. A two year old could do a better job than these mfs! Never and I mean NEVER send your child here! This isn’t a professional place
If i could give zero stars i would . This service is absolutely trash !!! My child has had severe mental health issues for quite some time . Family history of multiple suicides & our child Has been suicidal often, police / ambulance callouts etc . camhs are extremely rude, uncaring & basically don’t want to do any work to help put things right for the youth . DON’T place your child in this service . These kids can literally want to die and to them they are just another number . Go private because CAMHS are not all interested in helping . They will do the minimum work & tick boxes . Thats it !
If I could give this place 0 starts, I would. I saw them when I was about 11 for treatment and again when I was about 15. When I was 11 they told me that I had nothing wrong with me, and said I was just selfish and lazy. When I was 15 they never listened to me and finally diagnosed me with mild depression after I almost ended my life. Years later I was finally diagnosed with Autism, Anxiety, and Severe Depression (by a completely different Mental Health service in Dunedin) This place never once picked up on the Autism, even though looking back it was extremely clear in my actions. If this place had properly diagnosed me at the time, it would have saved me years of agony. If anything, going here made my mental health worse. Please consider another option before here.
Where I greatly respect mental health professionals. I unfortunatly have come across one in this service and her supervisor. Who have taken a view reasonable cause or understanding or paitent research or a monicum of intelligence, and dispite my sons rebuttal. When I complained I tried to speak to her supervisor, his first words were "I back my staff". His staff can do anything and this supervisor backs them. Child mental health is not a game. People who overstep should not be backed.
