Thanks for saving my bacon! They arranged service for me late the night before and the next morning, got me from The Shire to my bus in Matamata Centre with time to spare and get a coffee.
The taxi driver from Mata Mata taxis was extremely helpful and went the extra mile to make sure I was safe when dealing with a dodgy tow truck driver late at night. I would like to thank him for making sure I was safe.
We called Matamata Taxi Services on 10Nov23 and confirmed over the phone that they could take payment via card in their cabs. The driver arrived very quickly, which was much appreciated, but we realised a couple of minutes into the drive that he seemed to be in his own personal vehicle and there was no taxi meter in the car. He also had no access to maps, so I navigated for him using my Google Maps. The driver was lovely, chatted to us about our holiday and dropped us at our destination, but said that he couldn't calculate or collect payment as he didn't have a meter or card reader in this vehicle. We told him that we would call and ask for him by name to take us home after our event and we could sort payment for both trips then. The driver was waiting for us immediately after our event, which we appreciated, in a car with a taxi meter and a card reader. Again, he was lovely, chatting to us during the drive, but about half way home he explained that the card reader in this car wasn't working and asked if we could pay by cash, which we unfortunately couldn't. He took us home safely and we said we would call the company in the morning to sort payment. We received a text in the morning from the company asking us to deposit $120 into a bank account or the fare would be deducted from the driver's pay. We texted back to confirm the BSB and Account Number for the transfer but there was some confusion over text so they offered to send a driver to collect the money via card reader. The driver arrived very quickly and charged us $123, which possibly means that were charged extra for them to come out and collect the money. I have absolutely no issue with our driver, he was lovely and got us to and from our event safely, but as two females in an unfamiliar country, this experience was a bit scary for us, and I'm a bit frustrated that we seem to have been charged extra for a call out to collect the money when the issues with the meter and card readers were not our fault. Thanks again to our driver for being so friendly through the situation, and I'm glad his pay will not be deducted
FANTASTIC and caring business and drivers.. I'm in Auckland and needed help to get an elderly relative in Matamata (who has no immediate form of transport) some urgent milk and bread... I'd missed the delivery options from both New World and Countdown and I'm not down to her until tomorrow so was at my wits end trying to get her milk for her cup of tea and bread for her breakfast tomorrow... I called this company and the WONDERFUL Anup came to my rescue!!! ... I text him the 'order', he went into the shops and paid for the bread and milk himself and then delivered it to my GodMother and text me the picture of the receipt and also a video of the meter in the cab... I then paid online. What an AWESOME experience and it totally renews my faith in the Human Race... thank you all so much Matamata Taxi Services and especially you Anup... I thank you from the bottom of my heart for going above and beyond for my GodMother and myself... you are a true LEGEND!!!
