    This store is closing down end of the month. I'm in 2 minds about it. Sad that there will be no baby city in the south island but in some respects relieved as I have found since moving here 4 years ago the staff have all been way below par. They leave customers on their own and only engage when asked. Most people coming in are new parents to be, so don't know what they need and need crucial expert advice. Even though I am a grandmother now, I have been dealing with baby city (Auckland stores) since I was a new mother and I would have to say this store has been the worst as far as customer service and product knowledge goes. The staff are just there to get a paycheck and that's it. I would suggest if baby city do decide to get a new store down here that they start afresh with new staff.

    On May 25th, I purchased a Mountain Buggy Urban Elite Pram bundle for $1800. The pram needed to be ordered, so I paid a deposit for the store to order and secure the pram for my baby. The sales representative assured me that everything would be at the store and ready by the end of July. She also mentioned that a few components of the bundle were available for immediate collection. However, I declined to take anything, preferring to collect the entire bundle simultaneously to ensure all items were received and in proper condition. On Sunday, July 14, 2024, I visited the store to inquire about the pram's arrival. The sales representative retrieved a file filled with orders, many of which contained handwritten notes, suggesting a significant number of neglected orders. Eventually, our order was located, with the note "on hold" written in pen beside some of the items. The sales representative claimed that it appeared we had already taken some components of the bundle, which is false. She noted our visit and assured us that the entire bundle would be ready for collection in the coming week and that we would be contacted. However, the week passed without any communication. This morning, I received a call informing me that I could collect the pram end of the week but would have to wait another five weeks for the clips and carry cot. I find this unacceptable. I placed an order, paid a deposit, and expect the order to be complete before collecting anything. My questions to your manager are as follows: 1. What happens if we receive a faulty pram or if something is broken upon receipt? Do we have to wait months for parts? Manager's Response: No, we have multiple stores from which we can source parts. It will take a week at most. 2. Why, then, do I need to wait five weeks for clips to arrive if you can source parts from other stores? Manager's Response: We rely on suppliers in China for imports. However, I can attempt to source the clips from other stores. 3. Why have you not attempted to source and fulfill pending orders before contacting and upsetting clients, especially expectant mothers? This question could not be answered. Your staff members are unprofessional. Your ordering system is evidently failing. There was no communication from the store regarding delays, which would have been appreciated if communicated. This issues needs to be rectified ASAP.

    Do not buy gift cards from Baby City. I recently used a gift card and was notified after placing my order that one of the items was out of stock, and that they would refund me. After they had already shipped the rest of the goods, they then told me that they could only refund me with a gift card as the items value was more than the amount I had topped up the gift card with. This leaves me with a gift card with $11 dollars on it which is too much of a hassle to use (especially when factoring in having to pay for shipping again). They could not cancel the order and stated that they would not refund the shipping cost paid if I returned the rest of the goods. Will shop elsewhere in future as if they are this predatory over such a small amount of money, I wouldn't trust them with larger purchases.

    Popped in to view nappy bags today, the lady working did come up and ask if we needed any help, but as we were still in store close to closing time she came and asked many times after the first, checked the closing time was 5pm before going and this was around 4pm ish felt like she was trying to get us to leave. She then told us multiple times certain bags were on special which weren't when we got to the counter to pay. Then asked us to sign up to their bubclub for a 5% discount which we didn't even recieve after purchasing a bag not on special only noticed once we got home. Thought they had lovely products but overall not impressed with today's visit.

    Third time I’ve been here and didn’t get approached by anyone. Today I was the only person in the store for 20 mins no one came to check if I needed anything- I did. Sign up to say they’re short staffed but two people at the far back talking amongst themselves not approaching customers. No apology when I had to interrupt them to get help. Don’t recommend

    Young staff really need some training, came in to purchase a harnessed booster seat for my niece, the young girl had absolutely no knowledge on any of the car seats and gave wrong information. Not really her fault if she hasn’t been trained but with selling car seats which are a safety product there really should be a salesperson with knowledge and experience to ensure customers are confident with their purchase. It’s not a cheap product. Took 10-15 minutes to be acknowledged by any staff in store who were very casually dressed in hoodies etc. Not the level of customer service you would expect in what I would call a high end baby product store.

    Won't be coming back anytime soon. Both times my wife has been in recently a middle aged staff member has come across unfriendly and rude, not a welcoming environment at all. Super disappointing as they have great products and are in a good location being next to Ezibuy but will be taking our business elsewhere.

    Amazing and friendly team at the tower junction store. Have found them incredibly helpful through our mission of buying baby accessories!! Couldn’t recommend them all more, they are knowledgeable and friendly, nothing is too hard. Will definitely be shopping there in the future the staff member even price matched another company that we didn’t know had the bassinet on sale! We saved money and found the experience really great.

    Having some issues with our buggy we purchased last year, we popped in to see what could be done. Generally very dismissive and not really willing to engage in helping us (we were told to Google it). Having adjusted it to the best of the products ability, it's not up to scratch and we have been given some advice on how to follow it up ourselves. Safely the most disappointing customer service I've had in a while. After spending thousands at this store on a pram and car seat we won't ever be shopping here again.
