Our experience with Tauranga Emergency Department and the midwifery services was extremely disappointing and heartbreaking. We visited the emergency department after my wife had significant bleeding and pain during early pregnancy. We arrived around 8:48pm and waited until nearly 2am, despite clearly explaining that she was 10 weeks pregnant and had already had concerning symptoms. The communication was very poor. The triage nurse told us the doctor was busy and β€œmight not be able to see you,” which left us feeling ignored and helpless in a very stressful situation. The midwife we spoke with earlier had also dismissed the bleeding as β€œnormal,” which gave us no clarity or reassurance. Sadly, we later experienced a miscarriage. Looking back, the lack of urgency, support, and proper guidance made an already devastating situation much worse. We understand hospitals are busy, but basic communication, empathy, and timely assessment should be the minimum standard of care β€” especially for someone in early pregnancy with bleeding. This experience has left us extremely disappointed in the level of care provided. I hope no other family has to go through what we did.

As a father, I'm extremely disappointed with our recent emergency room experience. My 1.5-year-old son had a high fever, and after being advised by Plunket to seek immediate medical attention, we rushed to the hospital. We waited over four hours, and despite asking the nurses for updates, we received no clear information about how much longer we'd have to wait. This lack of communication and the extended wait time, especially when dealing with a sick child, was unacceptable.

Good day. Again I would love to give feedback on my experience at Tauranga Emergency Department on Monday, 3rd March 2025. I hurt my right knee with fall a while ago and doing exercises I must have aggravated the knee. The pain became so unbearable that my husband decided to take me to ED. From the lovely, calm young ladies at the reception, to all those who played their roll checking my knee with an x-ray to the lovely Jackie physiotherapist, to the staff in the corridors - so, so friendly. It's just so amazing. Please can you pass on my feedback to ED for me. I bless them all again with success and happiness. Kind regards Gilda Jenkin

Extremely disappointing experience at Tauranga Hospital ER. Waited 7 hours on Sunday, May 19th, and only saw a head nurse who provided a knee brace and crutches without proper examination or diagnosis. No doctor sighting! Returned on Tuesday, May 21st, after being assured by an orthopedic doctor that I'd be seen straight away, but was again made to wait and eventually left without seeing a doctor. Unacceptable wait times, unprofessional conduct, and lack of proper care. Frustrating, concerning, and inhumane conditions. Patients deserve better

It was a long wait at the A and E, but the two young doctors were the absolute best.
