   Incompetent liars, they get one star for being polite. Not only caused inconvenience but also a bunch of money. Staff were nice enough but did not know how to deal with custom bonded goods which they held. Would've been fine if they didn't know and consequently found out the procedures but they give out the wrong information which causes you to board your flight and leave the country without your highly valued item/s. After I pay the holding fee an Air NZ Cargo staff member who I will not name, told me that I would be called and my bonded item would be given to me by Air NZ Cargo at my gate before my flight when I leave the country. They take my number and flight details. Surprise, no one shows up. No one calls. I talk to the flight ground staff who make some calls. They're reportedly told that the item has to be cleared by customs, as I'm being ushered into the plane. My wife had to follow up the next day and gets told that I was called and told that it couldn't be given to me etc etc. Bold faced lie. Caused hours of going back and forth from Menzies, Air NZ Cargo, Airport Baggage Services and Lost & Found. Excuses range from 'we have nothing to do with it' 'its not in our system' 'it was given to the airlines'. Air NZ Cargo and Menzies finally decide to help after several hours and much complaining. We are eventually told by customs that my flight staff were told a lie by Air NZ Cargo as the bonded goods leaving the country does not need to be cleared by customs. Had to pay hundreds of dollars to get the item out since I had already left the country and wouldn't be back for months. Total incompetence from Menzies and Air NZ Cargo It would be great if you reviewed your internal procedures and policies so that no one has to go through the stress that we did.

   Not well signposted at chch cargo pickup. Had to pick up two domestic cats. Myself and one other member of public got trapped in what should have been a gated in air nz staff only area. Two staff members saw me and ignored me even though I was clearly looking for assistance. Finally one cargo driver on his way out directed me where to go which was around the corner of the building. Need better signage and better security.
