    I paid for DHL Express delivery, expecting the word “express” actually means fast. My package travelled impressively fast from London → Germany → Hong Kong → Australia → Auckland. Up to that point, DHL did exactly what I paid for. Then it reached Christchurch. Once at the Christchurch depot, my express package sat on a shelf for 24 hours with no contact, no updates, and no delivery attempt. Tracking stalled. No proactive communication. Nothing. I had to call on my unpaid time and they said they’d leave it for 48 hours. My address? 10 minutes from the depot. When I called to ask where my package was, staff couldn’t even tell me where it was, despite it being in their possession. I had paid for door-to-door delivery, yet in the end I had to use my own car, my own fuel, and my own time to go and collect it myself. So let’s be clear: • I paid for express delivery • DHL delivered quickly everywhere except sleepy old Christchurch • Once it arrived locally, it was treated like snail mail • “Express” apparently means pay a premium while your parcel sits untouched for two days like NZPost. What’s even more frustrating is that after leaving a low review, DHL suddenly wanted to call me to “chat” and “get feedback” — while they’re being paid by the hour, and I’m expected to donate my time for free to help them improve a service they openly admit is already working as designed. Yes 48 hours on the shelf is their idea of “express.” In other words, this is the service: Pay express prices → watch your parcel sit for 48 hours → do the last leg yourself with lukewarm apologies and not so much as a partial refund. That is not what customers reasonably believe they are paying for when they choose DHL Express. If this is genuinely how DHL operates in Christchurch, then customers deserve to be told upfront that express delivery stops once it arrives here. In future, I’ll try and recommend FedEx. Ideally not delivered to slow lane Christchurch. The manager Farhad in Auckland didn’t even contact me to follow up on the complaint, resulting in more wastage of my unpaid time for their insufficiencies. I will not be using DHL Express again in Christchurch, and I would strongly caution others to reconsider unless they enjoy paying premium prices for standard-speed service. Try FedEx instead, and stick to major urban centers where possible.

    They left a parcel on my doorstep for a different street. I was away a week so probably been there a while. I used their contact form to tell them, they emailed from a no reply address asking for the tracking details. Their contact form went to a chat that was out of hours and their phone lines are only open when I'm at work, so I have no way of contacting them. Meanwhile, what looks like someone's medical devices are on my doorstep and I'm running around after them. Thanks DHL...

    I don't like leaving negative reviews, but DHL New Zealand is by far the worst freighting company I have ever used. I've been trying to get a delivery over the line for almost 2 weeks now! One the phone to them everyday and their team continues to move at a snails pace. Pretty frustrating.
