Iβll start with the positives. The optometrists and most of the retail staff here are very friendly and were patient in answering my questions. This is the main reason I didnβt give just one star. However, several unpleasant experiences over the past few visits have made me feel I really need to speak up. Some of the glasses sold by this store are of very poor quality, especially the licensed CAT frames. Without any intentional damage, and without accidentally stepping on or sitting on them, one of the legs came apart at the weld after just four months. To make matters worse, the store doesnβt even have welding equipments. I was told I would need to wait over a week before I can get my glasses back, because this fairly simple repair had to be sent all the way to Auckland. In addition, the store seems more focused on selling more glasses and making more money than on considering customersβ actual needs. About two weeks ago, when my glasses were damaged, I clearly explained that my lenses were still perfectly fine and that I only needed a new frame. My insurance had approved this, and a staff member in-store also confirmed that this was possible. However, another staff member later insisted that insurance would not cover just the frame and pushed me to purchase an entirely new pair of glasses. I could understand if insurance truly didnβt cover it, but receiving completely different explanations from different staff members is unacceptable. Most importantly, after my glasses were damaged for the second time, a staff member showed clear dissatisfaction and even used the word βnaughtyβ to describe me, an adult nearly 30 years old! I understand that this staff member knows me and may have intended it as a joke, but is this really appropriate language for someone working in customer service? Especially when you donβt know whether the customer is comfortable with such βjokesβ. This was disrespectful, not humorous. I initially had a very good experience with this store, but the service during my more recent visits has left me very dissatisfied. Iβm confident that I will consider Chartwell or other branches in the future.

Bryce Street Specsavers often seems to be too concerned with sells and not want you need. Don't buy 'standard' lenses from them ask for 'elite' or you will end up buying more frames and lences to upgrade more often and they won't tell you that! Bryce Street Specsavers gave me bad service after covid, I forgave them after they made effort to resolve those issues, however, I have since discovered I have been receiving such bad service that it's been costing me big time, I will explain: About 2 months ago I went in and asked if they could put new lenses in a frames I only used for a short time from another store. They said I could and I asked them if it would cost me extra and they said no so I was about to go ahead and they said it will take six week to get them though. So, I put it on hold because I was shifting to Southland from Waikato. When I got to Invercargill I was told I had to pay extra because the frames were not specsaver frames and on top of that I was told that the frames I had being using only gave me a very small narrow vision. Now, this really frustrated me because for several years I have been going into spec-savers and saying I seem to have a very tunnelled view since I have had glasses do I need wider glasses? do I need a bigger frame? I was never told that they have three different types of lenses one is 'standard' one is 'premium' and one is 'Elite' each higher grade gives you a wider field of vision out to the edge of the lence according to the lady in the Invercargill store. What really annoys me is that twice now I have upgraded my glasses and brought new frames because I thought I needed better lenses and frames, and at the time "Bell and Matthews eyecare (where I get my prescriptions) said to me you're eyes haven't really changed that much, the prescription wasn't really warranting new glasses but, there I was going into Specsavers and buying new glasses because I was so desperate because, I was getting in trouble at work for not seeing things around me! Had I known this I would have brought the Elite lences and I probably wouldn't have lost one of my jobs or gotten in trouble for not seeing things happening around me in the job I was in for the last three years! That is how much it has cost me! It concerns me that spec-savers Bryce Street maybe more interested in selling more frames and trying to persuade people to have eye tests they may not need, then it does actually informing them of what they really need or listening to them!! I only got my recent test because I felt I wasn't seeing around enough! And I go to Matthew's because they have all my family history/records for years). Also, the Invercargill Specsavers told me it was going to cost me another $200 to get glasses then I was told it would be up at Bryce Street. I was flabbergasted and very annoyed with Bryce Street because if I had known I would have brought my other frames that I left in the storage unit I have in Te awamutu with me down to Southland! Specsavers has let me down for this too. I wanted to put this review in two weeks ago after this happened however, I have now found out that I have to fly to the North island for an appointment because I can't get a doctor's down here and I will be in the North island for one day only if Specsavers wishes to rectify these issues I have had on the day I am in Hamilton. They can get in the contact with me please. I already own three pairs of specsaver frames I do not need anymore so I do not see why I should have to pay an extra $200 and pay for new wider lences when I should have known about them in the first place. Also, a note to Specsavers: Not telling us about producing limited quantity product (and then us having trouble with it) is like producing fast fashion - producing rubbish that wastes people's time, money and the worlds environmental resources!! And I feel that producing a product of limited quantity and calling it your 'standard' item is misleading.

Great eye test from Hayden and pre test from Voli and Patsy. Hayden took time to explain everything clearly and checked an old issue I had had previously and described what glasses I would need and why. Grace was very patient with me wanting to try on every pair of green glasses they had in stock and didn't make me feel rushed. She was really helpful and explained everything well and was fantastic when I also came in to pick up the glasses when ready. Service from the whole team was great and seamless. Will definitely be back again to get more glasses.

I had a lovely experience at this Spec Savers when I went for my eye test and for my collection! During my collection, Polly helped me with many requests and was doing so with a smile and with so much joy! It was a great start to my day and she was very helpful.

With such professional and courteous service think Specsavers for that new pair of spectacles. They offer a huge range of very affordable glasses. Work and Income quotes are welcome here. Your vision is the top priority. Very impressive. I needed to get a new pair of spectacles and was extremely lucky that the team were able to provide me with a new pair for absolutely nothing. Free. Amazing. Thank you Polly and Co. Made my day.

Just for Jimmy (James) at Bryce street Specsavers I am giving a 5 star review after I made the effect to figure out how to do it. He has helped me on two occasions once with an emergency repair on glasses a few months ago and the second today to get a new pair glasses sorted. Also, he has a great sense of humer and he is a little artist, if you go in there with your kids you might be lucky, he might draw them a picture while your payment goes throw :) never know what else you might get when you go shopping for a pair of glasses it seems

First time customer and buying glasses, Hamilton CBD has 2 well professional people I highly recommend. Jen optometrist and James (assisted me when I picked up my glasses). These two have the paitience and made me feel comfortable as well as I understood everything that was going on and no long medical words. Over and beyond customer service. Thank you so much Jen and James.

Awesome service!!! I came in today to (on a whim) get the nose pad on my glasses replaced. The staff at this location were very hospitable and were very happy to help. Christine initially helped with my query and was eager to solve my issue.James was super; he found the correct pads & screws for my glasses. Would recommend!
