    Back in 2010 these guys were running a course for merchant navy cadets from India . It was a 4 months pre sea training affiliated to the manukau institute of technology and the new zeland maritime academy. .but the catch here was it was all a scam. The cadets in India were placed in an institute called sailors maritime academy in Vizag , Captain Soni from Delhi was the coordinator who conveniently manipulated the parents of these cadets for a bigger future on the merchant navy...but the institute running the course in India was unrecognised by DG and kept the cadets in a secretive building which was in a very dilapidated condition , they provided open cdc and the certification after the 4 months course didn't even mention the title of "deck cadets" on it....the cadets were forced to join ships through agents by paying hefty amounts as the new zeland school didn't help in sponsorship of the cadets and were only concerned when the cadets reaches their school after sea time..cadets were treated like slaves onboard, as these vessels were unlicensed and not seaworthy...the new zeland maritime academy wasn't bothered when things were highlighted to them cause they already got their share of the money by Mr Soni. when you provide the affiliation , might as well provide the right licenses and certifications to your cadets, you just looted the cadets money who lost their careers and got financially drained in hopes of completing sea time and reaching new zeland for their coc... Sadly most of the cadets couldn't get through the entire process and left the field... Very sad state of affairs...don't play with the lives of innocent kids who work hard to make a future.

    Half the tutors are terrible and half fantastic. Very confusing courses and poorly managed. Difficult place to study and complete course due to poor organisation and structure. Sad as could be a great hub for Auckland!

    I had some involvement with the NZ Maritime school in the 90's and early 2000 - Has a really dedicated faculty and an excellent Simulator for Shiphandling training. Also boasts some excellent Marine Engineer trainers like Sukerna Amirapu . It provides Professional Training fro seafarers as well as school leaver courses in Logistics. Well worth a visit.
