I couldn’t recommend James Kelso more highly. He’s extremely knowledgeable and skilled at what he does. I recommend him to anyone looking for a quality accountant - especially property investors!

James Kelso has not provided full disclosure of my friends trust and beyond that he has with no heart left the family without any updates or assets that diane left in her will. They have kept her ashes and without proper integrity, having not informed the family of her funeral that was performed 1 day after passing. James was the trustee whom Diana trusted and we are all shocked at his unprofessional manner. I held the funeral myself for the family and we have had no updates on her assets that she wanted to leave which was 5 months ago now. I feel James is not working in professional capacity for the estate.

Greenlion is a disaster. They're dishonest and unethical, especially Janet Xuccoa. They still invoice you for work not done. They'll blame you for everything because, according to them, you have to do their job and pay them for it. They're irresponsible. The IRD will tell you that Greenlion abandoned you. How pathetic.

My family’s experience with James Kelso has been extremely distressing. James had been my aunt’s long-time accountant and managed her family trusts before becoming one of her executors. Considering his extensive experience in estate management, it was deeply concerning that her will was very poorly written. He facilitated a change to my aunt’s will the day before she died, without a lawyer present, and her GP confirmed to me that they declined to sign a certificate of testamentary capacity. She was struggling to breathe and talk in the days leading up to her death. She was cremated the day after her death, and James signed the arrangements without notifying our family or close friends. No funeral was arranged for close friends or family, and her will did not mention anything about being rapidly cremated or not having a funeral. This is culturally offensive to our family. In the days following her passing, James and the other executor, Shona, moved very quickly to transfer her property into the trust (of which they are trustees). James was deeply entwined in all aspects of her financial affairs, holding multiple roles as accountant, trustee, and executor. In my experience, this has created a concerning conflict of interest. He also has not upheld my aunt’s personal wishes regarding her friends, who were meant to receive certain belongings. Instead, her friends have been cut off entirely. James appears to be supporting a much younger man (over 40 years her junior), who was not a de facto partner but had been living with my aunt. My aunt expressed to me in messages that she was struggling financially after he moved in. He continues to reside in her home, and given no family or close friends are beneficiaries of the family trusts, it appears he could be benefiting from her estate. No one has been able to contact this young man since her death, which has been very confusing and concerning. The ashes of my aunt have not been returned to the family, as James has not facilitated this. Combined with the lack of transparency about the estate, these actions have left my family feeling concerned and deeply unsettled. Overall, it is the most bizarre set of circumstances of which I have only lightly touched on, and I hold supporting documents. We have been left feeling very sad that we did not get to say goodbye or grieve properly due to the cold way in which James has handled her death. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend his services.
