The Family Store is wonderful on its own, but what truly makes it special is Tatiana. She’s the heart and soul of the shop. I’ve never met someone so warm, caring, and genuinely helpful. She always checks in with people, asks how they’re doing, and goes out of her way to help them find exactly what they need. Her kindness creates such a welcoming atmosphere, you can feel it the moment you walk in. My daughter absolutely loves Tatiana. Ever since our very first visit, she’s been excited to go back every week, not just for the treasures in the shop, but to see Tatiana. She has a beautiful way of connecting with people, especially children, that makes them feel safe and valued. I’ve also noticed that many customers come in simply because they enjoy talking with her. She makes everyone feel seen and appreciated, and it’s obvious how much the community loves her. I honestly believe that a lot of people donate to the store not just to support the shop, but as a quiet thank-you to Tatiana for her kindness and genuine care.

I went to the Salvation Army today with 2 new world bags full of expensive stuff, the old lady that worked there had no manners and had the audacity to say ( give me give me ) like how about thank you. They don’t deserve my attention

This place is a total mess. Overpriced or not priced at all. Loud volunteers including Tatyana - talking loudly all the time making the whole experience unpleasant - I won’t be back.

This shop is such a mess that it is dangerous. There’s a mountain of clothing dumped in the middle of the floor and a mountain of blankets that you can’t easily look through. Taking my elderly mum in there was unsafe. Two of the racks were so close together that you couldn’t get through to see what was on them.

Ignoring your customers while you're on a phone call & been standing waiting to purchase something is such a bad look. Maybe hire someone else to help run the shop if you are just gonna stand there on the phone. Super rude & will not be returning to support your business.

Torbay Salvation army. Really disappointed in the shop prices during so much struggles in NZ at this time for many. The arrogant priviledged women who works there was more interested in giving me a lecture about a designer brand in another country & looking up the value of it new rather than compassion for sizes for bigger womens clothing and a student trying to get a dress that fits for tomorrow starting academics. The white people are gifted great prices but Maori pay top dollar. Her attitude is a real kick in the guts. Many times salvation army the pricing is too high here. Honestly back in the days of making a dollar from someone else's hand me down clothes was how you were established now it's turning into greed. Individuals wreck it for many. Come on give us a break. A HUGE THANK YOU TO SALVATION ARMY GLENFIELD, BROWNS BAY AND DEVONPORT FOR YOUR STORES BECAUSE THIS FORIEGN CROOK IS STINGING THE POCKETS OF THE POOR.

Lovely lady running the store, maybe people should hear her story. Glad to be able to donate some items so that she can help others. Life's too short people- be nice!

I love this place. Absolutely bursting with nearly everything you can imagine. Great selection of books, clothes, shoes, and household items. There is a quick turnover for things so if you see something you fancy, best to buy - it may not be there next time you visit. Stellar volunteer staff. I left my bag in the one of the changing rooms and was immediately notified, with nothing missing. The 1920's era music that is sometimes playing just adds to the experience, as you sift through everything from pottery to placemats...
